The Center for Biological Sequence Analysis at the Department of Systems Biology at the Technical University of Denmark are seeking a highly motivated candidate for an assistant professor position within immunoinformatics and machine learning methods in systems biology. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic team implementing novel methods within immunoinformatics primarily focused on methods for prediction of lymphocyte receptor interactions with antigens. Responsibilities and tasks The candidate will take on a central role in the “maintenance and continued development of the analysis resource of the IEDB”. The research groups Immunoinformatics and Machine Learning and Protein and Immune Systems Biology at the Center for Biological Sequence Analysis at DTU Systems Biology play a central role in this work together with the Center for Infectious Disease at La Jolla institute of Allergy and Immunology, which is involved in the IEDB project. In particular the groups at DTU have primarily carried out the development of improved methods for prediction of epitopes. Up to now the main focus of this work has been on methods for T cell epitope discovery in general and T cell antigen processing and presentation in particular, and very limited work has been dedicated to B cell epitopes and lymphocyte receptor interactions with antigens. It will be the main task of the candidate to change this and develop methods with improved accuracy for B cell epitope prediction and methods that integrate information of lymphocyte receptors into the prediction of T and/or B cell epitopes. Beyond this the candidate must take on a strong role in teaching and education within the central research areas of the two groups (protein science and immunoinformatics) at all levels. Qualifications Applicants should hold a PhD and have some working experience in bioinformatics, biology, engineering, computer science or similar. The candidate must have strong computational skills and preferably prior experience with Unix/Linux command line environments, as well as scripting languages.The applicant must have prior experience with systems biology, bioinformatics, machine learning methods, immunology and immunoinformatics. The applicant must be a good communicator and strong in written as well as spoken English.
