Associate and assistant professors in Software Engineering

The SDU Center for Energy Informatics and SDU Software Engineering Section at the Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller Institute at University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense invites applications for open positions in fields relevant to software engineering, at the levels of associate professor and assistant professor. The positions are available starting 15. April or as soon as possible thereafter.

The candidates will be expected to contribute to one or more of the following fields:

• Software Engineering
• Smart production / Industry 4.0
• Cyber-physical systems

Candidates are required to have a proven research record in at least one of the following fields:

• Software Engineering
• IoT, pervasive computing, ubiquitous computing
• Agent-based systems
• Cloud computing
• Cyber security engineering
• Modelling of software systems
• Software development processes

The preferred candidates have experience within the following fields:

• Cyber-physical systems
• Smart Manufacturing/Industry 4.0

Commensurate with the seniority of the position applied for, the candidates must have:

• An outstanding research and publication record
• Extensive experience with industrial collaboration
• Strong track record of attracting research funding

All candidates must have a Ph.D. in a field relevant for the position.

The successful candidate is expected to develop and engage in a vigorous research program, collaborate with other faculty units on joint research projects, and actively participate in attracting external research funding in close collaboration with colleagues and management.

The successful applicants will be expected to provide outstanding education at all university level courses, supervise students at all levels and, depending on level, develop junior staff and faculty units.

The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute is an international recognized research department that has focused on robotics for more than 3 decades. The department is the origin of robotics research in Denmark, and has spawned the world-renowned cluster of robotics in Southern Denmark with more than 100 robotics companies that includes Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots. Building on our expertise in robotics, we have in recent years also put the department in the lead of UAS research.

Requirements for the position
Employment as an assistant professor and associate professor requires scientific qualifications at PhD level within a field relevant for the position.
 
Applications will be assessed by an expert committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the Faculty.

As part of the overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, an interview and tests may be applied.

Shortlisting may be used in the assessment process. Shortlisted applicants will be assessed by an assessment panel.

Conditions of employment
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

The assistant professorship is a 3-year temporary position. The employment will cease without further notice at the end of the period.

The associate professorship is a permanent position with obligation to research and teaching.
