Associate/Assistant Professor in Electromagnetic Systems

The Electromagnetic Systems group at the Department of Electrical Engineering covers areas of fundamental importance for modern wireless communication and sensing systems. These include electromagnetic field theory as well as microwave antenna, component, and circuit technology. The Electromagnetic Systems group is internationally recognized in these areas and the research is carried out in close collaboration with partners from national and international academia and industry. In order to develop our research and teaching activities we seek a highly qualified person to join the faculty at assistant or associate professor level. Responsibilities and tasks The assistant or associate professor will have his/her primary responsibilities in research and in research-based teaching. The successful applicant is expected to propose a specific research area that must relate to existing research activities of the group but constitute a clear extension of these; e.g. advanced analysis techniques for material modelling and wave-matter interaction, active/phased array antennas and frontends, adaptive/reconfigurable/tuneable antennas and frontends, or microwave medical imaging and technology. Teaching will include regular courses at BSc and MSc levels in electromagnetics, antennas, microwave technology, and/or wireless communication, as well as supervision of thesis projects. The position also holds responsibility for extending cooperation with external partners by actively pursuing national and international opportunities for joint projects and their funding. In case of an associate professor position, there will be responsibility also for PhD and Postdoc supervision, for research project management, and for academic department work. In case of an assistant professor position there will be responsibility also to complete DTU’s education in university teaching (UDTU). Qualifications Candidates for an •assistant professorship must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) •associate professorship must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and should document didactic/pedagogic training. Applicants must possess and document strong qualifications in research demonstrated through publications and citations in international scientific journals, and through successful collaborations and projects. Applicants for an associate professor position must document their interest, qualifications, and significant experience in research-based university teaching, while applicants for an assistant professor position must document their interest, qualifications, and possible experience. All applicants must document a vision for their contribution to future research and teaching in electromagnetic systems. Applicants must be ready to actively and constructively engage in collaborations with colleagues in our group, with other DTU groups and departments, and with external partners. Applicants do not need to master the Danish language but they must be ready to pursue the learning in order to teach in Danish within one to two years.
