The Department of Electrical Engineering invites applications for an Associate Professor position in Electrical Machines and Drives. The Associate Professor will be affiliated with the research group Electrical Components within Center for Electric Power and Energy (CEE). The group is engaged in research and education related to the design, modeling, control and diagnostics of components in the power system. Responsibilities and tasks The position includes responsibilities within the field of electrical machines and actuators with emphasis on conventional and novel machine designs, electrical machine modeling methodologies and machine drives control schemes. We expect focus to be on research within novel permanent magnet and superconducting synchronous machines as well as condition monitoring and fault detection methods. The position will strengthen our expertise and extend the high standard of research within electrical machines, as required by the needs of the future power system. Application of electrical machine research to offshore wind turbines, large scale power generation and electric vehicles are key areas to the position. The duties of the Associate Professor include research and scientific dissemination, research-based teaching and innovation. The role of Associate Professor includes supervision and managing of PhD students, postdocs and research projects. Candidates can expect to work closely with scientists and researches with broad ranges of backgrounds such as power system operation and control, renewable energy systems, material science and power electronics, typically in collaboration with other DTU departments as well as external partners from the industry and academia. If not proficient in Danish language, the candidate is expected to learn Danish. Qualifications Candidates must •hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an Assistant Professorship •document didactic/pedagogic training •have documented research results within the field of electrical machines Expertise in electrical machines for an energy system based on renewable sources including novel machines and proven practical experience in experimental work is required for this position. In addition, proven research experience in one or more of the following areas is advantageous: •large scale application of superconductors •magnetic materials in power components •control and condition monitoring of machine drives, •wind turbine drive train design, modeling and operation. Experiences with teaching and organizing of courses within electrical machines are required.
