DTU Compute represents a unique combination of mathematics and computer science, including competencies in information processing in the broadest sense, and in the development of modern computer based systems. Consequently, DTU Compute is in an ideal position to utilize the synergies arising at the crossroads between IT and mathematics, and we are therefore well positioned to address the challenges of the digital society. The scientific areas of DTU Compute cover theory, technology and engineering applications, ranging from fundamental research to innovative products and public sector consultancy. We drive technology and abstract engineering challenges as mathematical models enabling analysis, design, synthesis and simulations. We communicate mathematical and computational results to society at large and gain valuable insights from which new research questions emerge. Responsibilities and tasks The new associate professor will contribute to research and teaching in the field of statistical modeling. The associate professor will participate in development of statistics courses at the department and in creating related teaching material. The research tasks will be centered around the applications of time-series analysis, with special focus on application of stochastic differential equations for probabilistic modeling and forecasting in diverse areas of applications. Non-parametric methods (e.g. dynamic quantile regression) for probabilistic forecasting and modeling is also a focus area for the position. The associate professor is expected to direct teaching and research of high quality and to publish high impact papers in relevant scientific journals. The new associate professor will be given responsibilities for teaching (with associated examination commitments) at Bachelor-, Master- and PhD levels. The position will also include developing, leading and coordinating new research projects and developing operational research applications and collaboration with industry. Supervising and supporting Master and PhD students and coordinating training at the division level will be additional central tasks. Qualifications Candidates must •Hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an Assistant Professorship •Document didactic/pedagogic training The new candidate is expected to be one of the anchor points of development and application in statistical modeling and forecasting for energy systems. The candidate should have documented research experience within the following areas: •Statistical modelling, especially of dynamical systems using both parametric and non-parametric methods •Stochastic dynamical systems, in particular stochastic differential equations for probabilistic forecasting and modeling in diverse areas of technical applications •Probabilistic wind power forecasting •Teaching at bachelor, and master level Since courses for the bachelor’s education are in Danish, it is expected that the successful candidate within 3 years will be able to reach a level of proficiency in spoken and written Danish required for teaching purposes.
