At Gubra we are looking for a Bioinformatic Research Scientist to support and expand our fast-growing field of expertise, spanning from gene expression profiling to simulation of compound performance. We are looking for a person with great coordinating skills, who takes ownership and can transform complicated data to valuable biological results. We are looking for a Scientist, who are ready to set an ambitious high standard for the quality level of bioinformatics at Gubra. 
 
Gubra is a young company, very dynamic and data driven. Our workdays can be quite hectic with rapid changes and it is therefore essential that you have a flexible attitude. We are focused within the disease areas of diabetes, obesity and NASH/NAFLD, where many of our models and technological expertise’s are connected. At Gubra, we strongly believe in advancing science by continuously testing our hypotheses and trying to answer questions by conducting scientific studies in the animal facilities or in the laboratory. As a Bioinformatic Research Scientist at Gubra, you are supporting that vision by analyzing data from several areas within the organization. You will be part of the Bioinformatics group that currently consists of 1 Principal Scientist, 2 Research Scientists, 1 PhD student, and 1 Group Leader.  
The group do various bioinformatics and data management tasks. Your tasks as a Bioinformatic Research Scientist are varied, but include: 

• Support our NGS analysis infrastructure 
• Develop, maintain and support apps for data analysis tasks across the organization 
• Develop and expand our data analysis and visualization pipeline 
• Computational drug discovery and development 
• Take part in the daily scientific research, discussions and presentations 

 
Professional qualifications
Required Skills and Experience: 

• A keen interest in all things related to data analysis and computational biology 
• Education in computational and/or biological sciences and keen interest in gene regulation, pharmacology and drug discovery 
• Fluent in the R programming language and able to execute advanced analysis tasks within this framework 
• Experienced in handling and analyzing large expression data sets from transcriptomics or proteomics experiments 
• Familiarity with common data science strategies for dealing with large scale data sets 

 
Desired Skills and Experience: 

• Good Linux skills 
• Experience developing software using R-Shiny 
• Knowledge about database maintenance 
• Knowledge about NGS and RNAseq tools such as: STAR, DESeq and BioMart 
• Experience in using machine-learning strategies to address biological questions
