The role

As a C/C++ Windows Software Engineer at Airtame, you will join a committed team developing the core of our wireless streaming software. It’s the part responsible for capturing, encoding and transmitting audio and video data, then receiving, decoding and rendering the content on the Airtame device. This is low-level cross-platform software which runs under CPU, memory and time constraints, requiring significant focus on performance, concurrency, and resource lifecycles.

Most of our code is cross-platform and probably the majority of your work will be as well. But if there are any parts that are Windows specific, we would like you to have ownership of them. We also expect you to use Windows as your main development platform.

Our talented engineers are given significant ownership and responsibility over projects. We value rapid iteration, continuous integration and testing, and we are serious about producing high-quality, maintainable software. Frequent code reviews, linting, and pairing are all integral components of our engineering culture. We encourage experimenting with new technologies and constantly challenge ourselves to improve our code, processes, and systems.

Requirements

  • Proven experience developing highly performant software in C or C++
  • Deep understanding of concurrency, memory management and object lifecycles
  • Experience with low level Win32 programming (messages, windows, GDI, DXGI, Direct3D) is a big plus
  • Experience with Windows application development best practices (updating, MSI installation, installers/uninstallers, etc) is a big plus
  • Excellent English communication skills

Bonus points

  • Experience developing cross-platform native code
  • Experience with network protocols and security
  • Experience with real-time low-level programming
  • Experience designing C/C++ APIs/libraries.
