Flsmidth’s Global Field Service is looking for a Laboratory Manager who will join our other 60 travelling colleagues, for a demanding career that involves deployment to Cement project sites around the world. 

Cement plants are often located in remote places, this means that you will not be a sightseeing tourist but an integrated part of large-scale engineering challenges.

Brief Description

As a Laboratory manager, you will be based in your home country but will be constantly deployed to our sites all over the world. You will be involved through the whole commissioning period, from the very first startup, fine tuning and the actual running of the equipment in the cement plant.  You will need to be ready to travel on short notice and be able to cope with a considerable amount of uncertainty in relation to destination and duration of the assignment.

Detailed Description

Engineering on the road – but off the beaten track

You will meet all kinds of challenges, as making a large scale industrial production running, requires collaboration between different professions and, in the global work place, between different cultures.

Your role will include:

·         Inspecting, testing and starting up the equipment for the very first time

·         Calibrating and validating the accuracy of the equipment

·         Working with raw mix design

·         After training working with various FLSmidth Automation High tech quality control products: This could be the QCX, BLX or PXP systems depending upon your area of interest and wish to develop and learn

·         Reporting to head office with operational data and project progress

·         Support our process performance guarantee tests before handing over to our client

·         Supervising and instructing our clients’ personnel

·         Take charge of the overall setup and commissioning of the laboratory

 

It will be your job to make sure this is done – regardless of time of day and whether you are in Algeria, Philippines or Pakistan.

This role means that you are constantly on the road so you will have to find creative ways to maintain a social life back home.

 

Job Requirements

Adaptable and goal-focused team player who thrives with new challenges

Our expectations from you:

·         +5 years of quality experience from a Cement laboratory

·         Indepth cement quality and process understanding

·         Hands on experience with the equipment commonly found in Cement laboratories

·         Speak and write English effortlessly

·         Well-founded on the Microsoft Office platform

·         Flexible, open minded and possess a good sense of humour

·         Pro-active and able to find compromises between multiple and conflicting interests

·         Motivated, keen to learn and willingness to commit to challenging objectives

·         Proficiency in other languages and cultures is a further and definite advantage.
