Do you want to lead the National Genome Archive and National Knowledge bases in the Danish National Genome Center’s (NGC) new national High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure for Precision Medicine? If you can answer yes, apply for a newly established position as Section Leader for the National Genome archive and national Knowledge base.

About the position /Responsibilities 
You will lead a team (5-7 academic staff members) that is responsible for establishing and developing key elements of the infrastructure for the National Genome Center. The national genome archive will comprise a variety of structured and unstructured data, including meta data from the whole genome sequencing (WGS) performed at the National WGS Center. In addition, the team will take part in the development of the knowledge bases that NGC will develop, including tools for interpreting genomic data and classifying genomic variation.

You will have overall responsibility for the development of the National Genome Archive system and you will be a key player in building up the new infrastructure together with the specialists in the National Genome Center.

Professional qualifications 
You must have a good overview and knowhow of clinical knowledge bases and whole genome sequencing data processing. You have considerable experience with handling data from WGS analyses and in designing and developing infrastructure solutions in large companies or larger public institutions. Furthermore it will be considered an advantage if you have experience with software and tools for interpretation of genomic variation.

• Relevant experience in coordinating development projects 
• Experience with whole genome sequencing data and human genetics. 
• Experience in managing, coordinating and reporting a complex IT setup. 
• Are proficient and strong in communication including good English skills. 
• Interest in and knowledge of new technologies, trends, processes and best practices. 
• Documented results.

The Danish National Genome Center is an organization under the Danish Ministry of Health and is currently located at Ørestads Boulevard 5, 2300 København S, together with Statens Serum Institute and the Danish Health Data Authority. The organization is expected to have a core of approx. 100 employees.

Terms of employment 
Salary and appointment terms will be based on the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Federation of Professional Associations (AC) (overenskomst for akademikere i staten). Depending on your academic qualifications and experience there is a possibility of being classified as a special or senior consultant according to appendix 4 “protocol concerning special- and senior consultants” (Protokollat om specialkonsulenter og chefkonsulenter). 

The position is a full time position and is available from 1 October 2019.

About the Danish National Genome Center (NGC) 
The Danish National Genome Center’s primary task is to lay the foundation for the development of better diagnostics and more targeted treatments using whole genome sequencing and will have a national responsibility to develop state of the art infrastructure to enable analysis on big biomedical heterogenous data.

One of the NGC’s main goals is to be at the forefront of new big data solutions in the healthcare domain. They are working with the latest in HPC technology and employing some of the best technical talent in the Nordics to bring their vision to reality. The Danish National Genome Center is working with HPC, cloud, network, servers, storage, applications, users, and cross-cutting processes in a linux software environment. The organization is rapidly growing and it is expected to have a core staff of approx. 70 employees over the next year.
