Then join us in a newly established position as Data Engineer in our Oral Protein Formulation area (OPF).

OPF is part of Novo Nordisk’s Research & Development (R&D) family. Our ambition is to develop the world’s first tablet products for diabetic patients based on orally available versions of pharmaceutical peptides.

 

About the department 

The position is anchored in Oral Analytical Development which is responsible for developing analytical methods that are used to support development of the manufacturing processes as well as routine analysis for GMP productions.

The department consist of +45 highly skilled and dedicated analytical scientists and laboratory technicians. Together we represent many years of scientific experience in analytical sciences enabling us to innovate and solve exciting and challenging tasks. We collaborate very closely with early research departments, our pilot-scale production department and our large-scale manufacturing departments. One of the most critical parts in our business is the creation and sharing of analytical data internally and with our collaborating departments.

We have recently started a journey towards digitalisation, automation and better use of data. And we need your help!

 

The position 

In this role you will extract and transform data to enable our department to make data driven decisions and to identify optimisation opportunities by using your programming skills in e.g. Python, as well as your database technology experience to improve data availability and validity.

In the role as Data Engineer you will be responsible for creating a strong data backbone by developing and expanding our data infrastructure. You will transform our valuable data into key insight in collaboration with our two Data Scientists by understanding how our data needs to be converted, stored and presented. You will be engaged in data visualisation and enablement of automated and intelligent technologies. 

You will take part in designing the IT architectural runway with the aim of marry data sets from a wide variety of machines and equipment in our laboratories, using “big data” technologies. You will build analytical tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into operational efficiency and other business performance metrics. The role will include hands-on implementation, documentation and knowledge-sharing in the department.

This is a new job type within Novo Nordisk R&D which gives great flexibility for experimentation with new technology and you can look forward to playing a key role in shaping the future of digital laboratories in OPF.

 

Qualifications and skills 

You have:

• A relevant Bachelor's or Master’s degree in e.g. computer science, software engineering or engineering
• Programming skills in Python and/or SQL, C++, C
• Ideally you have hands on relevant work experience with data manipulation and unstructured data.
• Database understanding and experience from working with databases such as AZURE or AWS ecosystems and associate tools to build scalable machine learning systems (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka and BigQuery, Redshift, Postgres, Docker)

You have a key interest in transforming data to insights for our Data Scientists and the line of business, solid language skills in English and strong communication skills written and verbally. You enjoy building new solutions for your customers and you take a pride in helping your colleagues across various functions in a global oriented business. You deliver solutions and enjoy working in an informal atmosphere where flexibility and responsibility goes hand in hand.
