Data and platform engineers for a Research and Production Platform, Bagsværd
At Novozymes we have formed a new department to bring data-driven processes into our critical business path, building data systems and applications to support decision making in our current industrial processes and drive new business opportunities. We build our platform to support researchers and business units and give them access to state-of-the-art data science tools. We build the platform as Cloud-only and Open Source-first using the best technologies from both cloud providers as well as Open Source projects to solve the tasks at hand. As the market leader in industrial biotech we need to lead the way also in analytics and becoming data driven.

You are an end-to-end problem solver who prefers to use the right tool for the job, in close collaboration with your peers. You are accustomed with bringing systems into production. You have experience supporting and handling data and users within an open source toolkit from the OS upwards, dealing with multiple data sources, and supplying end users with systems and applications running in production. You’ve seen several different databases and know your way around dragging data out of legacy source systems.

Day-to-day you will be working focused and agile on a project-by-project basis, in a cross-functional team built from subject matter experts and technical experts. The team will be responsible for building and delivering production grade systems supporting Novozymes core business. As part of the new department you and the team around you are responsible for building smart and sustainable data products in close collaboration with the end users.
People development is a focus area in the daily work for all Zymers as well as continuous improvement of the way we work. Interaction with other departments is very strong, using both shared projects and actual job rotations to foster cooperation and people development.

In this position, you need to:

• Have proven track record of working with distributed production IT systems supporting data pipelines and processing
• Be proficient on the linux command line as well as with cloud service providers
• Have working experience in the Open Source space, supporting in-house use of Open Source components and frameworks
• Have Linux networking and security expertise
• Be comfortable developing in one of the following languages: Python, Scala, C++, Java,

The requirements listed above are considered as necessary, in order to be successful in this position. The following qualifications/experience are considered as good-to-have:

• Having worked Agile as a developer
• Exposure to configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
• Management of multiple linux flavours (ubuntu, centos, FreeBSD, redhat)
• Data pipeline management tools (Storm, NiFi, Kafka Streams, Kinetics, Spark Pipelines, Airflow, Glue)
• General DevOps capabilities (CI/CD, docker, deployment pipelines)
