Do you have the courage to drive a digital innovation agenda in Oral Protein Formulation (OPF) and do you want to influence a department working with many different types of analytical data? Then join us in a newly established position as Data Scientist in OPF.

OPF is part of Novo Nordisk’s R&D family. We develop oral products and their manufacturing processes in our pilot plants, as well as analytical methods. Our ambition is to develop break-through tablet products for diabetic patients based on orally available versions of pharmaceutical peptides and other molecules.

About the department
The position is anchored in Oral Analytical Development which is responsible for developing Analytical methods to support the development of the manufacturing processes and batch release.

In Oral Analytical Development we are +35 highly skilled and dedicated analytical scientists and laboratory technicians, anchored in 3 teams, 1 support team and 2 development teams. You will join one of the two development teams. Together we represent many years of scientific experience in analytical sciences enabling us to innovate and solve exciting and challenging tasks. We collaborate very closely with early research departments, our pilot-scale production department and our large-scale manufacturing departments, exchanging data and information across multiple IT systems.

We have recently started a journey towards using more digitalisation, automation and better use of data. And we need your help!

The position
In this newly established role, you will take the lead and first hand identify opportunities for optimisation/automation of data handling in the laboratory and afterwards drive implementation of new innovative IT solutions as well as support on-going data projects.

This could include tasks such as developing solutions for automated data handling from analytical equipment and their application specific software, developing data bases for easy data access, data modelling and visualisation, testing and implementing machine learning algorithms for various applications, as well as integrating with existing data bases i.e. Laboratory Information Managements System (LIMS).

You will work in close collaboration with experienced specialists, scientists and technicians with an in-depth development knowledge of chemical and physical analysis as well as specialists from manufacturing We also expect you to stay updated with your field of expertise and to engage in sharing and applying best practices across Novo Nordisk.

Qualifications
You have a Master’s degree or a PhD within Engineering, Natural Sciences, Statistics or Computer Science. You are used to drive your own projects/assignments and you have practical experience with data processing, database programming, data analytics and with programming languages for example Python, MatLab. Ideally, you have gained some years of relevant experience from an industrial company and it is an advantage if you have experience with solid dosage form and process optimisation. Also experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) is a major advantage.

On a personal level, you are curious and eager to learn and you enjoy building new solutions for your customers. You like working independently and taking the initiative for driving tasks and projects in a dynamic and busy work environment. Additionally, you are outgoing, structured and have a strong personal drive to get the job done on time without compromising the quality in your deliverables. As you will have a close collaboration with specialists, scientists and technicians in the department, we expect you to be skilled at collaborating with people with different backgrounds and at communicating complex content across functions, motivating others to hear and follow your ideas. Preferably, you can speak and write both Danish and English.
