Would you like to be a part of the world’s biggest pump company’s development organization? We are ambitious and are now increasing our activity level. We need you in this new position to help us develop mechanical components for Grundfos pumps and drive your tasks in a role where you gain great freedom in an ambitious team. Join us in the Mechanical Development– more specifically the Pump Mechanics department. We are 16 colleagues responsible for the structural, mechanical parts of the Grundfos pumps. Working in project teams across departments within Mechanical Development, we make sure concepts are matured for production. You refer to Manager, Mikkel Essenbæk. ”We have a really great team with a good mix of competences and seniority. We make a big deal out of sparring and looking out for each other which makes up a good environment where a relaxed tone and a high ambition level go hand in hand,” Mikkel explains. What is the job about? As our new Development Engineer, you will work on development projects taking initial concepts through the design phase, materialising specifications and making sure the concept is ready for production. In each project, you work closely with your manager as well as the Technical Project Manager, always keeping in mind that each design needs to be able to be manufactured within agreed time frame and at the lowest possible cost without affecting our high quality. In this job, networking is absolutely central. Involving relevant stakeholders across the value chain, you make sure you have the right people to complete the right tasks in the maturation process. You are part of setting the time frame for each development project, and part of doing so involves using simulation as a tool to bring down the time estimate. “You really need to be able to understand our value chain. It is complex as demands from the market enter our development cycle and do not leave until we reach production. Knowing our value chain, our hope is that you can contribute to our bottom line, developing solutions that both increase cost-effectiveness while further improving the pumps,” Mikkel says. What do you need to apply? You are a Mechanical or Marine Engineer with some years of experience; however, graduates with the right mind-set will also come into consideration. You know how to manage core mechanical disciplines and understand the entire production set-up. Moreover, it is a definite advantage if you have experience with moulding processes within plastics and metal, and if you have mechanical knowledge within simulations (FEA). You speak and write English effortlessly and Danish will be an advantage. “On a personal level, you are driven, and you manage to finish what you started, knowing when you have reached a high enough level that matches the specifications. Finally, you have excellent networking and collaboration skills which enable you to work with colleagues across the business,” Mikkel finishes.
