If you find challenges like this exciting and inspiring, you may be our new Downstream Development Scientist within protein purification for new diabetes and obesity treatments. About the department The job is in the department of Diabetes Purification Development within Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC), R&D, located in Bagsværd. In the department you will have 38 highly skilled and motivated colleagues organized in two teams. Our main responsibility is to develop purification processes for the manufacture of new active pharmaceutical proteins and peptides for future diabetes and obesity drugs. We do so in close collaboration with the research unit as well as the pilot facilities that manufacture the proteins used for toxicological and clinical trials. The position You will be part of project teams and provide expertise within protein/peptide purification process development. Our primary unit operations include chromatography (e.g. on the Äkta/Unicorn platform), filtration, precipitation/crystallization, and enzymatic modification. Analysis is performed by UPLC, LC-MS, SDS-page, and biological assays. You will plan, evaluate and report experimental work in the laboratory, carried out by experienced laboratory technicians and yourself, both independently and in close collaboration with other team members. Systematic evaluation of process data obtained from laboratory -and pilot facilities is a natural part of the job, as is risk assessment of process parameters. The progress of the work will be presented and discussed in project groups. In addition, process support to our pilot facilities is an integrated part of the job. Qualifications You hold a MSc or PhD in protein chemistry, biochemistry, biochemical engineering or other relevant field, and you have practical experience with several of the above unit operations from industry or academia. Furthermore, we expect you to have excellent communication and cooperation skills, an innovative mind set, being able to convert theory into practical solutions, and the ability to be both a team player and independently drive complicated development projects forward.
