HW/SW Designer for Oticon We are a team of 11 developers in a digital design team that is looking for a new colleague to help us develop the state-of-the-art digital components for use in Oticon’s market-leading hearing aids. To develop the world’s best hearing aids, it is always necessary to adapt and optimize the IC components. That is why IC design is a core competence at Oticon. We deal with the newest IC technologies and we place emphasis on a professional and innovative working environment. The technical challenge: Design of ultra-low power components In your new job, you will become part of Oticon’s Processor IC and Toolflow team, which is responsible for designing, developing, and testing the digital components used in the IC’s that we use in our hearing aids. The digital components include MCU, DSP, I2S, codecs, and proprietary compontents and the drivers for these components. The team consisting of 10 designers and 1 team leader. The team also creates the tools and flows used in developing the ICs. The components you are going to help us develop are characterized by extremely low power consumption and high integrability. An additional challenge is that they need to be easy to produce in large volumes. To achieve this, we constantly push the technology to its limits and focus on smart design. You can look forward to being involved in all phases of the development and design from pre-study to evaluation of the final IC. Thus, you will be involved in analyzing concepts, defining requirements for digital components, design, documentation, verification with low level FW/SW and lab testing etc. We are looking for someone who has interest in working in the split between HW and SW. You should be comfortable with writing the rtl and driver to test it. Along the way, you will have close contact with product development to ensure optimal utilization of the digital component. In this way, you will gain insight into the practical implementation and application of our ICs’. Depending on your interests, you can become part of cross-functional cross study groups focusing on investigating future concepts or you could join the team that develops and further improves our Linux/Unix platform and our digital development flow. Solid understanding of ASIC & FW design The most important qualification for this job is a good knowledge of ASIC design and IC design flow in combination with a real passion for this field. You may have worked a few years in a business where the focus is on digital IC design or you may be a newly graduated engineer specialized in IC design or have a Ph.D. within IC design. You are familiar with the following HDL coding, preferably Verilog Low level SW development (drivers, HW abstraction layer) using C Design in a SoC ASIC Design flow, preferably Synopsys Verification at all levels e.g. rtl, formal, gate C/C++ Comfortable working in a lab Experience with programming and scripting languages e.g.java, python, tcl NoC Architecture (Network on a chip) Personally, you are the type who sees the benefit in cooperation and mutual knowledge sharing with your colleagues, and you have a positive attitude. You have a sense for detail while still being able to meet your deadlines. You work well in an environment based on “frihed under ansvar”. In relation to experience, you are able to handle several tasks simultaneously without losing perspective or sense for detail.
