In this job, you will play a vital role in the diabetes development portfolio at Novo Nordisk, working with process development of API candidates from early development to late phase III. CMC API Development consist of approximately 500 employees and we are responsible for drug substance development and production new API candidates for the entire portfolio of Novo Nordisk. This includes microbiological fermentation, mammalian cell culture, chemical syntheses, recovery and purification. Diabetes API Development is one of four VP areas in CMC API Development and Diabetes Purification Development is a department in Diabetes API Development. About the department The department, Diabetes Purification Development consist of two teams and 40 dedicated and highly skilled employees. The department is part of the Research & Development organization at Novo Nordisk and is responsible for downstream process development of new drug substance candidates for the entire diabetes development portfolio. This includes recovery and downstream purification of yeast and E. coli processes and purification of synthetic peptides. We do so in close collaboration with the research unit as well as the pilot facilities responsible for manufacturing the proteins used for clinical trials. The job You will play a key role in CMC API Development, supporting API projects that proceed through the clinical pipeline. Currently, the department handles more than 25 different projects spanning from early development to late phase III. As Director you will have 2 team leaders and several API project leaders as direct reports and you will have the overall responsibility for the department in all aspects. You make sure that we have the right resources and competences and that the right prioritization is made between the different projects. You will lead changes supporting a LEAN culture where continuous improvement and science is a natural part of everyday work. You will report to the VP of Diabetes API Development and be a member of the Diabetes API management team, which consists of five department managers, who are working closely together. Qualifications You have solid managerial experience from a similar role in a pharmaceutical company and your experience is backed by a Master’s or PhD degree within a relevant field of expertise. You set and communicate a clear direction and you have an excellent overview, a structured mind-set, a dedicated way of working. You are ambitious and display a high level of personal engagement, drive, persistence and integrity. You possess excellent planning skills as well as the ability to build relations with stakeholders.
