The Danish Technological Institute in Aarhus is currently seeking an engineer, chemist or physicist to extend and develop its work in the field of sensors for environmental and process monitoring. Using your specialist knowledge in the areas of chemistry/physics, you will help to develop and advise on process-monitoring technologies aimed at helping companies improve their operational efficiency. Diverse development and consultancy assignments in the area of sensors and environmental chemistry Working with developmental projects and commercial assignments relating to the design, testing and implementation of sensor and monitoring technologies for production operations and the environment, your primary focus be to combine cost-effective sensor technologies in order to monitor environmental emissions and improve industrial processes. From a specialist-professional perspective, the position requires you to work with a broad spectrum of technical knowledge in close co-operation with your colleagues and corporate/organisational customers. Among other things, this includes the development and verification of sensors for measuring soil pollution directly within drill pipes used in the extraction of shale gas. Your primary tasks will be to •Develop and optimise sensors for process monitoring •Set up laboratory facilities that can verify sensor solutions •Create new and innovative projects together with national and international companies and research partners •Advise companies in relation to using sensors for environmental and process monitoring The position offers not only a great deal of variety, but also affords a significant degree of freedom to define your own assignments and focus areas. On a day-to-day basis, you will work with consultancy and development assignments, involving lab work, analyses and close contact with customers. Project participation and project management – in both national and international development projects – will also be a major focus area; here, you will be involved at all stages, from concept and project creation to implementation and application. Outgoing and ambitious engineer, chemist or physicist We welcome all applications from qualified (up to PhD level) engineers, chemists, physicists nano-technicians or similar. You should possess a broad overall understanding of chemistry and physics and be capable of translating this academic knowledge into practice within your development assignments. The position calls for an individual who relishes new challenges, and who, by adopting a constructive approach, is able to come up with solutions to specific problems by means of finding and testing new possibilities. We expect you to have several years’ experience of working with sensors, devising research designs, and building experimental set-ups. Applicants with solid knowledge of one or more of the following areas will be viewed favourably: materials chemistry, surface physics, polymers and project management. On a personal basis, you should be motivated by seeing your specialist professional knowledge translated into solutions and applications used within the industrial sector, thereby improving the competitiveness of Danish companies.
