The Sequencing centre at the National History Museum of Denmark, University of Copenhagen has a vacant position as a sequencing engineer in charge of the daily operation of the sequencing. The position as an academic employee is temporary and runs from 1 July 2019 to 30 September 2023 (4,3 years).

Background
The National high-Throughput DNA Sequencing Centre is located at the City Campus in central Copenhagen. The Sequencing Centre is embedded in the Lundbeck Foundation Centre for GeoGenetics (LFCGG), headed by Prof. Eske Willerslev, which has been a world leading research group in ancient genomics for the last 10 years. The Sequencing Centre provide high-throughput sequencing services (MiSeq, HiSeq, NovaSeq) and is an integral part of the ancient DNA (aDNA) research of the LFCGG and other. The purpose of the Centre is to provide a DNA sequencing services and IT infrastructure for DNA analysis for several research groups within Copenhagen University, but also national and international collaborators and institutions.

The position
We are employing a qualified, highly motivated and committed full-time academic at the National High-throughput DNA Sequencing Centre, for routine sequencing and maintenance of our sequencing platforms including primary analysis. The position includes the following main work areas:

• Responsibility for sequencing instrument operation (NovaSeq, HiSeq, MiSeq) and coordination of laboratory technician activities.
• Responsibility for managing and quality control of sequencing data and transfer to users.
• Responsibility for optimisation of protocols and trouble-shooting.
• Training and supervision of technical personnel.
• Technical support for the internal and external users of the sequencing services.
• Participation in development of primary data analysis.
• Maintainance of documentation and SOPs.
• Follow the technological development in high-throughput sequencing.

Qualifications

• Relevant academic degree (e.g. master, Phd) within engineering or science, specialized in molecular biology or another relevant topic.
• Extensive knowledge about high-throughput sequencing platforms and technology.
• Documented hands-on experience with Illumina HiSeq and NovaSeq sequencing instruments,
• Experience with NGS library preparations.
• Documented experience in trouble-shooting and optimization of molecular biology methods.
• Experience with base-calling, sequencing data analysis.
• Skilled user of Linux systems.
• Experience with other high-throughput platforms and common laboratory equipment (robots, pipettes etc.).
• Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English (and optionally Danish).
• Excellent collaboration skills.

Terms of employment
The employee is employed as administrative officer in accordance with the collective agreement for academics. Remuneration in accordance with the AC collective agreement is enabstractJV_titled to seniority and is currently between DKK 25,552.08 and 31,135.75 per month. It will be possible for the negotiation of additional extension according to qualifications.
The working week is 37 hours average mark. We have flexible hours.
