About the unit
Biopharm Transformational Research Unit (TRU) is an area of skilled scientists and technicians investigating the function of novel drug candidates to improve the treatment of individuals living with rare genetic disorders such as haemophilia. We are deeply involved in the discovery of innovative Biopharm drug candidates through in vitro and in vivo research at Novo Nordisk.

 

The position
We offer you an inspiring position where you will be part of a cross-functional team in which scientific goals require contributions from many highly specialised colleagues. Your focus in the team will be hands-on gene editing, e.g. using CRISPR/Cas, for therapeutic applications.
Your main responsibility is development of gene editing strategies for a selection of diseases including optimisation of gene editing efficiencies and elimination of off-target effects. Furthermore, you will be studying the pharmacological consequence of gene editing in relevant biological models. Generation of new ideas for drug targets, promotion of project proposals as well as providing data input to patent applications and/or publications are expected contributions.  The position is a 2-year temporary contract, with possibility of extension.
 

Qualifications
The ideal candidate has a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or a related field with experience in gene editing and state-of-the-art laboratory methods plus 3-5 years of postdoctoral academic/industry work experience. In-depth knowledge about gene editing technologies as well as general knowledge about viral gene therapy approaches is a prerequisite. Understanding of haematological disorders and drug discovery is considered a plus.

To be successful in this position, you must have an entrepreneurial mind-set, superior problem-solving skills and the ability to understand complex biological systems. You must be a team player and self-starter and be strongly motivated to explore new ideas and methods in order to drive innovation for the benefit of our patients.
