Copenhagen / Local-International / Geoscience / Ref.: MO-076085 The Developments Department within the Danish Business Unit is offering a challenging position for an experienced Geomechanics Engineer to work on sub-surface studies supporting field developments and producing assets. The position is located in Copenhagen. We Offer The team, within the Development Department of the Danish Business Unit, aims to develop oil and gas opportunities on three of the main producing fields of the Southern Danish North Sea, the Dan, Halfdan and Kraka fields. The development can include up to 70 additional wells drilled from new wellhead platforms. The fields comprise two chalk reservoirs, primarily with oil production and in part with significant water sweep implemented. The Geomechanics Engineer will primarily work together with the Field Development Team and provide the geomechanics support required to de-risk specific development plans. He/She will be part of a small geomechanics team in the Danish Business Unit (DBU) who supports the daily geomechanics challenges experienced in the DBU: leverage rock mechanics information between the Wells and Subsurface teams as well as integrating new geomechanics knowledge into the drilling and development plans. The successful candidate will be working with a highly professional and demanding team and will therefore need to show initiative, dedication and enthusiasm. Key Responsibilities • Deliver geomechanics support to the development plans • Contribute to drilling programs with wellbore stability assessment, including definition of minimum and maximum mud weights • Use LOT and drilling experience to define magnitude and direction of minimum horizontal stresses • Estimate pore pressure and fracture gradients • Participate in maintaining the Mechanical Earth Models for the Danish North Sea • Assist reservoir and production engineers with defining appropriate minimum and maximum values for BHP • Integrate rock physics data with rock mechanics data in a Mechanical Earth Model • Design, supervise and interpret rock mechanical tests, including defining failure modes • Assist production team with risking of chalk production • Assist in predicting reservoir compaction and seafloor subsidence Who we are looking for The candidate will also be integrated into the geomechanics community in our wider Corporate Department and will be responsible for ensuring knowledge sharing between different business units is occurring. The candidate will either fully or partly have, or be willing to acquire the following competencies: • Pore Pressure Prediction and evaluation • Basic knowledge of drilling, reservoir geology and production engineering • Planning of rock mechanical tests • Failure mechanics and compaction • Knowledge of constitutive models and sanding models • Evaluation of magnitude and orientation of regional stresses • Hydraulic fracturing • Stresses around boreholes and stability during drilling • Mechanical data from drilling/field data • Knowledge of sand pre-diction, soil mechanics, • 3D Geomechanics Modelling • petrophysics and rock physics • Basic knowledge of drilling, reservoir geology and production engineering • Familiarity with completion technology Last application date: 23 June 2015.
