Would you like to take up the technical challenges in relation to high-voltage cabling for grid connection of wind farms? Join us and become High Voltage Cable Engineer in our HV Cables department which is responsible for all high-voltage cables transporting energy from generation in the turbine to delivery to the grid. You will be involved in all engineering phases related to array and export cable systems for offshore wind farms. The department is part of Wind Power, which is a large business unit in DONG Energy and has 1300 employees. We are the world’s largest developer of offshore wind power. Our project portfolio comprises several major offshore wind projects in Northern Europe, and we have an ambitious strategy about further international growth for the coming years. The department currently consists of 22 full-time employees located in Denmark, London and Hamburg as well as six consultants. HV Cables has its own principal specialist and is organised in three teams: Solutions, Cables and Export Cables. You will be part of the Solutions team and may choose freely to be based either in one of our Danish offices in Skærbæk near Fredericia or in Gentofte near Copenhagen or in our London office on local terms and conditions. However, you should expect some travelling to our offices and sites in Denmark and Northern Europe. Areas of responsibility As a High Voltage Cable Engineer, you will be responsible for the thermal and mechanical design of high and medium voltage cable systems and for delivering high quality, optimised technical solutions to our projects in execution, development and operation. In addition, one of your primary responsibilities will be to assist our existing wind farms in securing high availability on all assets. You will participate in the development and implementation of standard technical solutions and concepts with respect to array cables, high voltage export cables, cable protection systems and ancillary equipment for cables across our portfolio. Furthermore, your key duties will be to: perform thermal cable design calculations and modelling for cable dimensioning witness electrical and mechanical tests on cables and handle clarifications perform mechanical cable design investigations perform temperature verification, such as measurements, data collection and evaluation participate in project meetings and provide technical documentation to the projects Moreover, you will verify new technologies and special solutions, participate in the Carbon Trust initiative and other R&D activities and workshops, as well as supervise engineering trainees and thesis students. Your profile You will hold a Master’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or similar and be interested in working with technical issues in connection to high-voltage and medium-voltage cables. Furthermore, you will be technically skilled, and any experience on cable design and relevant modelling tools would be valuable. It is essential that you are outgoing and have a conscientious attitude to your work. You will thrive on working in teams with your colleagues and other stakeholders. You will have a structured, service-minded and flexible approach to your tasks. Furthermore, you will be very attentive to development trends within the cabling field and excel in acquiring new knowledge.
