Novo Nordisk is building a world-class research team within Cardiovascular & Liver Disease Research, and is seeking an experienced laboratory technician with 5+ years of experience to support our efforts in the discovery of novel therapeutic biologicals in non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).

 

About the department

Liver Disease Research is a cross-disciplinary department in Global Drug Discovery, Novo Nordisk A/S, dedicated to research within the cardio-metabolic field, in particular non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). As part of Novo Nordisk’s new strategy within chronic diseases, this department has a focus towards building a research platform, target identification, validation and pre-clinical progression of new treatment options within NASH. Currently, the department consists of 15 employees of whom 6 are in vivo and in vitro laboratory technicians. We work in a flexible, collaborative, and cross-functional setting, while keeping focus on quality and goals in an informal environment.

 

Key responsibilities

We are seeking a talented technician to join our in vitro biology team. You will be working with in vitroexperimental work within liver biology, inflammation, and fibrosis. Part of your daily lab work will be handling and maintenance of cell cultures, planning and performing cellular assays, immunoassays, receptor-ligand interaction assays, signalling and proliferation assays, gene expression analyses, and possibly flow cytometry. Handling diverse techniques on various cell types while maintaining great attention to details and high degree of quality is key for this position. A significant part of the job is also extensive data analysis and proper documentation and reporting. You will be able to demonstrate your excellent planning skills, collaboration and communication skills, and independent trouble-shooting approach.

 

Required qualifications

You are educated as laboratory technician or other relevant education. You have extensive hands-on experience with handling cell cultures – optimally hepatocytes, immune cells, or fibroblasts - and with establishing and validating in vitro assays including key functional readouts. Experience in methods like ELISA, secondary messenger assays, western blot, qPCR is a prerequisite for the position. Furthermore, competences within flow cytometry, imaging techniques, and multiplex cytokine assays are valuable.

You are quality-minded and live up to our high ethical standards. You are flexible and enjoy working in cross-disciplinary teams and can handle effectively multiple tasks in a dynamic environment without losing overview. Working in a global company requires good English and communication skills both written and orally.
