We are looking for a talented java developer, who holds an interest for the green transition and will undertake our vision of being a driving force for groundbreaking new knowledge and innovative technologies within electric power and energy. You will join us in developing high quality research infrastructure and collaborating with scientists on research projects with the aim of finding solutions to the future smart energy systems. Our platform hold some of the world's most advanced laboratories for developing future energy solutions and we would like you to join our team.
We are currently expanding the physical infrastructure of our Energy System Integration Lab (SYSLAB) at DTU Risø Campus. Along with this expansion, we need to upgrade and develop the digital infrastructure as a means to being able to operate an intelligent distributed smart energy system.
Therefore, we are looking for a Java developer, who can build new and develop existing system infrastructure and software platforms. This work will be in close collaboration with researchers and PhD students. The two largest IT platforms are SYSLAB and EnergyDataDK (DMS). Both platforms will be part of the new lab facility in PowerLabDK called Digital Energy Lab.
The team
PowerLabDK is an experimental research platform close connected to the Center for Electric Power and Energy at DTU Electrical Engineering. The PowerLabDK team consists of 15 employees who are responsible for the research facilities - software and hardware. You will join a team of great professionals with mixed backgrounds, e.g. software development, electronics, fine mechanics and automation technology. Your primary workplace will be at DTU Risø at Roskilde fjord and secondary at DTU Lyngby.
Your responsibilities
- Continued development of the IT platforms
- Support documentation of system architecture and designs
- Proactively contribute to ideas and solutions in collaboration with the research groups
- Help planning the use of the facilities
- Operational tasks (including maintenance of ICT infrastructure and system administration)
Required technical and personal skills
You have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in IT or comparable field. It is required that you have experience with:
- Object-oriented programming in Java
- Software design, development, implementation and testing
- Knowledge of Linux
- Passion for technology and how it is applied
- Motivation to accomplish complex tasks
- Outreaching and dialogue oriented
Beneficial additional technical experience:
- Software Architecture
- Data Communication Protocols
- Ability to write strong, structured, scalable code
- No-SQL (E.g. Apache Cassandra)
- Pub/Sub Systems (E.g. Apache Kafka)
- Network (setup / troubleshooting, etc.)
- Handling of personal sensitive data
Language
It is important that you are fluent in English, verbal as well as in writing. Danish is an advantage, not a must.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. It is a fulltime position with starting date is as soon as possible.
Primarily workplace is DTU RISØ Campus in Roskilde, but there will be working days at DTU Campus in Lyngby.
