Are you a driven mechanical engineer looking for a new challenge? Do you have experience designing and specifying mechanical components? If so, we currently require a Mechanical Engineer to join our Powertrain team and focus on Powertrain Auxiliary Components. Technology & Service Solutions/ Nacelle, Power & Handling/Powertrain /Drivetrain/DK Vestas Technology & Service Solutions (TSS) is responsible for developing, verifying and industrializing Wind Turbines and related Service Products. It is here that we lay Vestas's technical- and technological foundation for staying the global leader in wind energy by continuously reducing the Cost of Energy. The Powertrain department in TSS currently consists of more than 40 highly skilled employees, primarily situated in Denmark and in Germany. The department is accountable for the Powertrain system converting the mechanical energy from the wind turbine rotor into electrical energy. The System consists of main components such as the main gearbox, the generator and the main shaft bearings, and of the auxiliary components; mechanical brake, couplings, gear stay and lubrication system. We have an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer specializing in development and product maintenance of auxiliary components for the Powertrain System. Activities will involve all facets of product development; from specification of requirements to final validation in the field, but with many of the activities in between anchored at external partners such as consultancy networks and/or suppliers. The later aspect requires a candidate with a combination of both strong technical competences and a commercial mindset, and not least with a distinct ability to - and motivation for - driving technical and challenging projects forward. You will benefit from an environment working at a high professional level and with a strong technical commitment Responsibilities Your responsibility will be Powertrain auxiliary components for Power-/and Drivetrain systems. You will be working with our entire range of wind turbine product platforms, from the kW-class and up to 8MW. Main activities under this responsibility will include: Deployment of Powertrain auxiliary component development strategy for Powertrain auxiliary components. Specify and maintain function-/and performance requirements for Powertrain auxiliary components. Execute integrated product development of new Powertrain auxiliary components together with external partners and suppliers. Validate Powertrain auxiliary component function-/and performance in Powertrain system test environment or in wind turbines in the field. Maintain-/and provide life-cycle support to existing Powertrain auxiliary components. This includes cost-out initiatives and product optimizations. Provide general business support to stakeholders such as Global Sourcing, Manufacturing and Service. Qualifications Bachelor- or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experienced (3-5 years) within the role as lead engineer for mechanical components such as brakes and couplings. Strong technical skills and solid experience within development and validation of mechanical applications for e.g. wind turbine, aerospace, automotive or heavy industries. Basic knowledge about CAD-/PLM systems such as Pro-E, PDM Link and SAP. You are familiar with Six Sigma development tools and methodologies. Experience within certification of components preferred. Competencies You are pro-active, result oriented and has a strong sense of responsibility. You have an excellent commercial/business understanding and can naturally incorporate external partners, as well as the full value chain of Vestas, into your daily work.
