Towers & Foundations in Technology & Service Solutions (TSS) is maintaining and developing the complete Vestas tower program. The tasks range from structural engineering over highly specialized FEM calculations, requirements specifications, DFMEA, test planning and execution to risk assessments and compilation of certification documentation. Focus is on securing sound, cost-optimized and production friendly solutions and at the same time fulfilling the overall requirements to safety and functionality for the products. Responsibilities: As Towers Lead Engineer you will report to the Director of Towers & Foundations. Your main responsibilities and tasks will be: You will take on the role a technical lead in projects developing new tower solutions. As such, you will drive the technical implementation in close cooperation with the specialists and engineers. You will plan and follow up on tasks, handle stakeholders, and lead the project team through the technical reviews. To succeed in this, you will need to have a very structured approach to your work, and an interest in and an ability to plan and track projects involving a small team of 5 to 10 engineers. You will also carry out individual tasks. These could be related to driving new cost-out initiatives, solving specific customer issues, or assessing new technologies. You are able to complete assignments, including getting the product certified by the relevant external authorities - GLDNV or TÜV. You will be part of one or more continuous improvement teams. These teams cover a wide range of subjects, form establishing guidelines ensuring compliance to norms to tool optimization. You must ensure and maintain an excellent contact to a large number of stakeholders in TSS, in Sales and Production Business Units and be prepared to give support when needed. Qualifications: Bachelor or Master's degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering Experience in design of welded or casted steel structures from either the wind turbine or offshore industry is preferred Experience in programming and tool/model development is also an advantage Competencies: You will be working in a busy environment with high focus on execution. You therefore need to be structured and have a sense of details and at the same time be flexible and people oriented. You are already now experienced in requirements management, DFMEA, risk management and systematic verification activities. Preferably you have experience with integrated product development and designs according to HSE requirements and the Machinery Directive. Experience with calculation and design of steel structures will be to your advantage. Likewise experience with FEA, six sigma tools, ECM, and stage gate model driven project execution. You have good communication skills and capable of acting as a motivator through an open dialogue. You understand the wind turbine business and are able to make decisions based on business priorities. Very good communication skills in English both written and spoken are needed.
