In Power Plant Engineering, we focus on product development as our main activity. We lead early scoping and execution of technology activities. All of this is built with our deep power system-, control- and SW knowledge and based on the understanding of the market and connection code development. In Power Plant Engineering we control-, design the electrical infrastructure of-, model- and simulate the entire renewable hybrid power plant.We value initiative, taking leadership and being self-driven.In Plant Control Engineering we are responsible for the development of the Vestas Hybrid Power Plant Controller which enables grid-code compliance for all Vestas Power Plants connected in power systems worldwide. The development activities in the department encompasses power system engineering, controls development, embedded and real-time software development, release management and product support to specialist and technicians in regional Vestas business units.

Responsibilities

As Lead Power Systems Engineer, your main responsibility will be technical lead of various development projects of control solutions and technologies for Vestas Hybrid Power Plant Controller. The responsibility will include:

  • Scoping of projects in alliance with internal stakeholders
  • Defining and securing the quality of requirements for the project 
  • Estimation and C-level task planning in JIRA
  • Technical lead for local and remote teams on daily basis
  • Enable and drive fact-based decision making for the project team 
  • Ensuring the quality of technical deliverables for the project on time

You will be working with these challenges:

  • Adapting, implementing and improving development processes for the department and product development activities  
  • Creating and reviewing requirement specifications and design abstractJV_descriptions 
  • Design and implementation of control solutions for Hybrid Power Plant control by model based design using matlab/simulink
  • Verification of plant level electrical performance by use of Hardware In the Loop test environment and site testing

Qualifications

  • M.Sc.EE or B.Sc.EE
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as technical lead for product development
  • Experience on power system and control engineering
  • Experience with electrical integration of renewable power assets and grid codes 
  • You have an overview of a wide range of advanced technical domains within grid integration of renewables, ancillary services and grid codes
  • Knowledge and desire to work with implementation and improving of processes for product and software development

It is an advantageous if you have experience with some of the following: 

  • Basic knowledge of real time control systems and software development
  • Experience with test and verification of control applications in lab and on-site 
  • SAFe, CMMI, Scrum and/or agile development processes 
  • Software tools, jira, sourcetree, git, etc.
