Zealand Pharma A/S (Zealand) is seeking a Legal Counsel. Zealand is a biotech company focused on the discovery, design and development of innovative peptide-based medicines. As part of its growth strategy, Zealand is looking to grow its legal department with an additional lawyer.
Job Profile
As Legal Counsel at Zealand, you will handle a wide variety of legal matters and will provide sound practical legal advice to the entire organization. As Legal Counsel, you will balance legal risks against business interests. You must be able to interact with employees at all levels and within all functions from Research and Development to Commercial.
The key responsibilities will include:
• Coordinating the preparation, review, negotiation, drafting and approval of various types of agreements, including confidentiality agreements, service agreement, R&D agreements, supply agreements, consultancy agreements etc.
• Legal counselling regarding the development of new products.
• Compliance, interpretation of and instruction in relevant legislation within life-science, GDPR, HCP engagements etc. and follow-up on new legislation.
As Legal Counsel, you will report to Head of Legal Department Hans-Christian Lund and will be part of a dedicated and highly experienced team.
Candidate Profile
The optimal candidate will have the following personal qualifications:

• Be proactive, take action, and be able to suggest new ways to handle issues and contribute to the growth of the Legal Department
• Pragmatic mindset with a strong ability to link legal advice to business
• Enjoy being in a dynamic organization and a changing environment
• Be able to act independently and take a lead on legal issues where appropriate.
The optimal candidate will have the following professional qualifications:
• Newly graduated or 3-5 years of relevant legal experience
• Experience with working independently and effectively with cross-functional groups
• Excellent contract negotiation and drafting skills using a business-oriented and value-adding approach
• Excellent communication and writing skills in English and Danish
• Business acumen
• Excellent people skills
• High level of integrity and flexibility
• Experience within healthcare and/or pharmaceutical or related industry is an advantage.
