Vestas Technology & Service Solutions /Rotor, Towers & Control/Tower Engineering Tower Engineering in Technology & Service Solutions (TSS) is maintaining and developing the complete Vestas tower program. The tasks range from structural engineering over highly specialized FEM calculations, requirements specifications, DFMEA, test planning and execution to risk assessments and compilation of certification documentation. Standard Towers & Internals is a sub-department of Tower Engineering. The department is responsible for design and certification of all standard towers including internals: access ladder, platforms, internal ladders, lift, HSE and compliance to the standards applicable to the markets where the towers are sold. Focus is on securing sound, cost-optimized and production friendly solutions and at the same time fulfilling the overall requirements to safety and functionality for the products. Additionally, process efficiency and lead time reduction is of key importance in order to fulfill Vestas’ overall ambitions of delivering products, which are configured to customer needs in a timely manner. The team is located at 3 different sites: Aarhus and Lem in Denmark and in Chennai, India. The team consists of 18 highly skilled technical designers and engineers with background in mechanical and civil engineering. Responsibilities: As Manager for Standard Towers & Internals you will report to the Director and be part of the management team within Towers Engineering. Your main responsibilities and tasks will be: Drive the design and process improvements for standard tower and internals Set industry standard for efficient/automated design, CAD and PMD integration Drive tool development for improvement of calculation capabilities and efficiency Maintain Vestas position as market leader within Wind Turbine Towers Ensure close corporation with the value chain for optimization of total value chain cost and lead time Qualifications: Bachelor or Master's degree in Mechanical or structural Engineering Experienced in people management Experience from larger R&D organization Experience with integrated product development and use of integrated CAD software/solutions Knowledge of design for manufacturing and preferably insight into wind turbine tower design Experience with calculation, structural engineering and FE analysis is not a must but will be an advantage Experience with six sigma tools, ECM, and PDM-link will be an advantage Competencies: We see the ideal candidate possessing the following personality and competencies: You have proven people leadership experience, and develop employees through coaching and target setting You are process oriented and have a structured way to work You have a proactive and extrovert personality and can lead your surroundings with your good communication and stakeholder management You have a proven record in change management, and can motivate employees through transition You naturally lead, guide, advise and share knowledge with team and stakeholders You are a strong networker and able to build, develop and maintain relationships in a global environment You are a good communicator and possess English skills at a high leve What we offer: We offer a challenging workplace with excellent professional and personal development opportunities in an inspiring, international work environment with the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturer.
