About the position 

For the Mechanical and Structural Design Team within Offshore Equipment we are looking for a skilled and self-driven Mechanical Engineer. This position covers a broad area of design and development of transport, lifting and handling equipment.

All verification is based on Eurocode, DNVGL and/or similar local standards. It is therefore essential that you have a good understanding and experience in codes and standards.
Verification is done in a mixture of analytical calculation and FEA.

The Offshore Equipment department is responsible for development of Transport, Lifting and Handling equipment for SGRE offshore Wind turbine main components from production facilities to installation.

What are my responsibilities?

• Design and verification of structural steel in accordance with Eurocode, DNVGL and/or similar local standards and corresponding execution standards.
• Strength and fatigue verification of steel structure and equipment using both analytical calculation and FEA.
• Developing and maintaining in-house calculation tools for everyday activities.
• Making sure that needed updates are implemented in design basis and design tools.
• Ensuring safe solutions with focus on the usability for the end user.
• Keeping track of project deliverables and budget.
• Technical communication within the project team and with internal/external stakeholders.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

• You have a M.Sc. in Mechanical/Structural combined with 3-5 years of experience within Mechanical/Structural Engineering, preferably from the wind or offshore industry
• You are familiar with Eurocode, DNVGL and /or local standards as well as related guidelines
• You possess experience with MathCad, Excel, Ansys
• You are experienced in 3D and 2D design, calculations and quality checks
• You have a thorough and structured approach to your work and can find innovative solutions to problems
• You are confident of taking decisions in the area of your expertise based on facts with a pragmatic approach without compromising on the quality requirements
• You apply a solution-oriented approach in your daily work
• You are an active team player, able to work in a multicultural environment
• You thrive in cross-functional and international settings and understand team dynamics
• You possess excellent English skills both orally and in writing
• Experience with design in aluminium and/or use of plastic material is an additional advantage
