Are you a Mechanical Engineer with experience with Materials, Metals and Metallurgy? Do you have experience or interest with non-destructive testing (NDT) and surface treatment? We are currently seeking an experience Mechanical Engineer to join our Nacelle Front Structure team working with cast design and materials. Vestas Technology & Service Solutions Nacelle, Power & Handling Nacelle Engineering Nacelle Front Structure The department Nacelle Front Structure is a part of the Vestas R&D organization. We are currently 11 employees based in Denmark and India. The department is responsible for the structural system and components in the nacelle front. These are primarily large structural components taking the wind load to the tower but it is also the yaw system which orients the nacelle to maintain rotor upwind. The department works with casted iron components, electrical components, lubrication and plastic. We are responsible for design and analysis from the early concept study for new turbines to the final specification for production i.e. the complete palette covered by system engineering. Responsibilities: Specification of material quality and inspection requirements on our casted structural components. In general participate in the design of cast components supporting that we utilize our materials and knowledge. Securing that Vestas is continually developing material knowledge benefiting from it. Interaction with suppliers and participate in assessments of suppliers. Specify test and verification of materials and on components. NDT and surface treatment assistance to secure correct technical specification on our components. Qualifications: Mechanical Engineer M.Sc or B.Sc. Minimum 5 years of experience preferably within casted structural components and within material science. Competencies: Experience with design of cast components. Experience on materials and its properties. Knowledge of Cast ductile iron. Knowledge of Casting Technology. Knowledge in non-destructive testing. Preferably level 2 or better in ultrasonic testing. Knowledge in surface treatment etc. Interest in new inspection techniques. Knowledge in structural analysis using FE tools, preferably Ansys. High degree of personal planning and able to meet deadlines.
