We currently require an Engineer to join our Drivetrain Lubrication Team. This is your chance to work across all Vestas platforms and be exposed to a suite of disciplines and systems within our turbines. Technology & Service Solutions/ Nacelle, Power & Handling/Powertrain /Drivetrain/DK Vestas Technology & Service Solutions (TSS) is responsible for developing, verifying and industrializing wind turbines and related service products. It is here that we lay Vestas's technical- and technological foundation for staying the global leader in wind energy by continuously reducing the Cost of Energy. The Powertrain department in TSS currently consists of around 50 highly skilled employees, primarily situated in Denmark and in Germany. The department is accountable for the powertrain system converting the mechanical energy from the wind turbine rotor into electrical energy. The system consists of main components such as the main gearbox, the generator and the main shaft bearings, and of the auxiliary components; mechanical brake, couplings, gear stay and lubrication system. We have an immediate opening for a mechanical engineer specializing in development and product maintenance of lubrication systems for wind turbine powertrains. Activities will involve all facets of product development; from specification of concept and requirements to final validation in the field, but with many of the activities in between anchored at external partners such as consultancy networks and/or suppliers. The later aspect requires a candidate with a combination of both strong technical competences and a commercial mindset, and not least with a distinct ability to - and motivation for - driving technical and challenging projects forward. Responsibilities: Your responsibility will be Powertrain Lubrication Systems for Power-/and Drivetrain systems. You will be working with our entire range of wind turbine product platforms, from the kW-class and up to 8MW. Main activities under this responsibility will include: Specify and maintain function-/and performance requirements for powertrain lubrication systems. Execute integrated product development of powertrain lubrication systems together with external partners and suppliers. Validate powertrain lubrication system function-/and performance in system test environments or in wind turbines in the field. Maintain-/and provide life-cycle support to existing powertrain lubrication systems. This includes cost-out initiatives and product optimizations. Maintain product documentation. Provide general business support to internal stakeholders such as Global Sourcing, Manufacturing and the Service organizations. Qualifications: Diploma-/or Master degree in Mechanical-/or Marine Engineering. Experienced (2-3 years) in the role as design engineer of lubrication systems and in the integration and function of its components, this including pumps, filters-/and filterblocks, heat exchangers, sensors, pipes, hoses and connectors. Good skills within thermodynamics. Knowledge within control and regulation of integrated systems. Basic knowledge about CAD-/PLM/PDM systems such as Pro-E, PDM-Link and SAP. You are familiar with Six Sigma development tools and methodologies. Excellent language skills (speaking and writing) in English required. Experience within the field of wind turbines, automotive or heavy-industries preferred. Competencies: You are pro-active; result oriented and has a strong sense of responsibility.
