The Drivetrain department currently consists of more than 30 highly skilled employees situated in Denmark and in Germany. The department is responsible for the main gearbox, main shaft bearings, mechanical brake, couplings, gear stay, lubricants and lubrication system for all Vestas wind turbine solutions. We have an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer, specializing in gearboxes for Drive-/Powertrain systems. You will benefit from an environment working at a high professional level and with a strong technical commitment Responsibilities: Your responsibility will be product development and product maintenance of gearboxes for wind turbines. Main activities are as follows: Develop and maintain gearbox component specifications to match drivetrain system and WTG product requirements. Facilitate gearbox component development and component maintenance in close collaboration with suppliers with design responsibility. Specify gearbox and drivetrain system verification methods and procedures to demonstrate functional performance and reliability. Review gearbox design verification at supplier's test facilities, at Vestas's test centre and in WTG field operation. Review gearbox design data, calculations and product documentation required for gearbox certification. Identify and lead cost out initiatives. Secure cross functional product development via stakeholder involvement across the full value chain including Global Sourcing, Test & Verification, Manufacturing, Installation and Service. Prepare and maintain gearbox component customer documentation incl. item manuals and service instructions. General business support incl. change/deviation management and support to for example to Sourcing and Manufacturing. Qualifications: Bachelor- or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering Advanced knowledge and competences within gears, bearings and the surrounding structures. Experienced (2-3 years) within the role as lead for mechanical gear component development. You understand gearbox failure modes and failure mechanisms. You are familiar with Six Sigma development tools and development processes. Experience within certification and type approval of gearboxes preferred. Experience within the wind turbine generator industry preferred. Competencies: You are pro-active and result oriented. You have a strong sense of responsibility. You must have good organizational and communication skills and you must be able to work within an international and multi-disciplinary team. Excellent language skills (speaking and writing) in English required. You are highly motivated.
