In the Concept Development Department innovative ideas are transformed into concepts that build the foundation for Vestas to remain the industry leader. We base our working environment on a high degree of freedom to try new concepts and willingness to take high technical risk, because failures are one of the sources for groundbreaking innovations.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for bringing new ideas into concepts that demonstrate the core elements of the ideas and removes the major uncertainties both technically and commercially. Specifically, you will be responsible for:

• Technical feasibility studies for various wind turbine concepts
• Overall turbine mechanical design and optimization in cooperation with system specialists
• Wind turbine value chain concepts including manufacturing, transport, installation and operation & maintenance
• Cost benefit studies and business case calculations
• Risk analysis
• Development of Concept Demonstrators, definition of test cases and evaluation of test results
• Various feasibility studies related to sustainable energy beyond wind turbines

Qualifications

We expect you to have the following qualifications:

• A mechanical engineering background, minimum Master level, and min. 5 years of experience within wind turbine engineering
• Experience with wind turbine mechanical system design
• Knowledge about the value chain: manufacturing, transport, installation and operation & maintenance
• Experience with statistics and data analysis
• Worked with research, innovation and traditional engineering
• Experience with valuation of new ideas
• The ability to dive into the details and challenge the process to secure an agile and fast concept development process

Additional information

Work location will be at Vestas Technology & Service Solutions Headquarter in Aarhus, Denmark. You will work close together with colleagues globally in Vestas and partners and universities outside Vestas, so 10-20 days of travel per year must be expected.
