For the next generation of turbines Vestas are looking for an experienced NPI lead for New Product Introduction R&D and Manufacturing activities. 

So, if you are holding a relevant engineering degree preferably in Mechanical or Production Engineering combined with several years of experience in project management within product development, you might be the one we are looking for.

The New Product Introduction (NPI) department focuses on early product development until implementation into factories, supporting all platforms under development. 

The NPI lead is responsible for delivery of NPI Milestone Plan and detailed project plan of the scope to secure the documentation package for production. Furthermore, the NPI lead must ensure usage of DF(x) planned activities to secure the overall risk picture up against the 0-series, starting from the concept phase and ensure that the product reaches the Technical Review’s on agreed time and quality by supporting the risk mitigations.

You will join an organisation with several experienced NPI leads where we share knowledge across areas and prepare improvements to increase synergy between projects. You will become active in the project, but also in the organisation to improve and further mature the way they execute. They expect to learn from you, just as you can expect to learn from them!

Responsibilities
It will be your responsibility to:

  • drive the dialogue with NPI management to clarify competence need and time estimates based on scope abstractJV_description
  • drive the execution according to NPI project plans 
  • communicate status within project team, Manufacturing and NPI Management 
  • ensure build of design and process prototype
  • ensure an effective and transparent OSOS system at factory, running from the first build in production
  • ensure the creation and maintenance of a usable and tested PWI package incl. PII’s
  • ensure usage of DF(x) planned activities in the NPI projects
  • communicate the overall risk picture towards the platform, NPI and assembly management
  • conduct review of milestones
  • facilitate readiness level evaluations
  • be a FIRM gatekeeper at Peer Reviews and Technical Reviews 

Qualifications

  • Relevant engineering degree – preferably in Mechanical or Production Engineering combined with several years of experience of project management, preferable within product development 
  • You have documented experience with project management of complex projects with multiple stakeholders and suppliers 
  • You have insight in and the ability to work along the entire value chain
  • Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in related position
  • Firm knowledge in assembly processes and factory setups

Competencies

You have some manufacturing and assembly skills, insights/experiences, and the ability to define concepts and implement these in close collaboration with the business.

  • You have documented experience with technical project management of complex projects with multiple stakeholders and suppliers
  • You have insight in and the ability to work along the entire value chain 
  • You have a structured approach to your assignments and are able to handle project changes occurring in a dynamic R&D environment
  • You take pride in delivering the project as agreed, on cost, quality, time and in a safe manner.
  • You possess strong communication and English skills, both orally and in writing
  • You possess high analytical skills and a structural way of working
  • Your approach to task solving is both technically sound and commercially viable
  • You are outgoing and proactive, and you possess the ability to work both independently and in teams

Professional competences:  

  • Process flow development: You need to understand the flow and setup of the facility, and to define all your deliveries through a process flow. This is an important delivery.
  • General P-Engineering Knowledge: Agile manufacturing, Lean Production.
  • Design for assembly: Ability to understand criticality in assembly steps, able to see issues with assembly at an early design phase where design is still on paper.
  • Design for manufacturing: Be able to take a component and simplify it.
