Technology & Service Solutions Industrialization New Product Introduction & Documentation Value Chain Engineering Operating in Technology & Service Solutions, New Product Introduction’s (NPI) role is to ensure that products under development can be produced at best the prices and manufacturing quality in our factories and with our suppliers. Vestas has multiple factories based worldwide, that assemble nacelle´s. The nacelle facility assembles a wide variety of components, from structural beams / heavy castings / powertrains components to small electrical elements. Your main focus will be to drive manufacturability towards our facilities, and run in of critical components towards our supplier base. You will work with both known technologies but also with heavy assembly processes not yet known. You will be working with structural Assemblies, Welded constructions assembled of these, and powertrain assemblies, which consist of Gearbox / main bearings / Main shaft / coupling assemblies. So you will need to have process knowledge in similar areas. Other main focus areas will be manufacturing and interaction with designs groups from the concept phase. You will be working across Vestas, with a wide stakeholder group. Responsibilities The Value Chain Engineering department focuses on the entire development lifetime from early product development until implementation into factories, supporting all new product platforms under development. The main purpose of the Technical Lead, NPI is to ensure that process risks and costs are mapped early in product development. To ensure that all risk has been facilitated, the developer will participate in early development and scoping of projects, until prototype productions. Furthermore you will be responsible for the quality of the process and work both as a developer, but also as a coordinator / lead in areas of scope. More specifically, your responsibilities will cover: Design for Assembly and Manufacturing Process mapping - Current & Future state mapping of manufacturing processes Participate in integrated product and process development with designers to ensure best manufacturing practice in design. Identifying critical and unknown processes Participate in costing of components / modules Interface with stakeholders such as Sourcing, System & product integration, Tools & Equipment, Health & safety etc. Be a part of change management in early prototype builds. Review of product concepts / deliveries at gate passage Support category management teams, and operational support Qualifications Relevant engineering degree – preferably B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering Approximately 5 years' experience from a similar position Competencies You have solid knowledge of assembly processes and factory set-ups, and you are capable of defining concepts and implementing these in close collaboration with the business. Furthermore, you have: A high level of process flow development experience and understanding Knowledge of general production concepts such as agile manufacturing, mass customization, lean etc. the ability to understand the steps and phases in designing for assembly understanding of the design for manufacturing work steps a very strong collaborative approach towards the stakeholders focus on solving a problem while strictly following the agreed plan a very structured approach, and you are capable of visualizing a complex solution strong communicative skills and fluency in English What we offer We offer a challenging environment with global leader of wind energy.
