Would you like to design and manage the development of offshore substations for our offshore wind projects? Join us and become Structural Engineering Manager in our team in Substations. We are responsible for managing engineering activities for our offshore substations throughout the development, execution and installation until handover to operation and maintenance. We are looking for candidates who are eager to make a difference and contribute to future wind projects. The department is part of Wind Power, which has 1600 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world’s largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe. You may choose freely to be based either at our office in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area or in Skærbæk near Fredericia in Jutland. You should, however, expect some travelling in Denmark and Northern Europe in relation to your work. Areas of responsibility As Offshore Structural Engineering Manager you will refer to the Offshore Substation Project Manager and work with the Electrical Engineering Manager and Fabrication Manager. You will be directly responsible for the offshore substation in relation to all matters pertaining to structural steel design, general layout, fire and safety, mechanical equipment and interfaces. Additionally, you must ensure that all input and constraints from internal stakeholders are available in due time, from feasibility and concept studies to detailed design and fabrication follow-up. Furthermore, your key duties will be to: •manage the engineering contract with an external design consultant, following up on the design schedule and budget and ensuring quality performance •establish a design basis within the structural, fire and safety, mechanical and HVAC scope •secure a statement of compliance from a third-party certifying agency •prepare technical requirements for fabrication and installation contract •follow up on design work prepared by the fabrication contractor and manage design updates and technical queries during execution •finalise the subproject and prepare technical design documentation. In addition, you will be responsible for informing the project manager of all significant technical issues, particularly risks, developing contingency plans and managing changes in the design and fabrication phases. Your qualifications and core competences include that you •hold a master’s degree in structural or offshore engineering •have sound understanding of structural design of offshore platforms or equivalent •have experience managing design consultants within the offshore wind or oil and gas industry •have a result-oriented approach to your work and enjoy working with various employee groups, nationalities, cultures and authorities. As we operate in an international environment, it is essential that you have excellent communication skills and speak and write English fluently. The key to succeeding in this position will be your ability to proactively ensure high quality and innovative design of the offshore substation topside and substructure performed by the engineering and fabrication contractor.
