Patent Attorney - Global IPR Management 

Do you want to contribute to managing and securing the IP of one of Denmark's most renowned companies and a world market leader within its industries? If so, you now have the opportunity to become a Patent Attorney in the Global IPR Management Department. You will join a team of dedicated colleagues located around the globe, who manage FLSmidth’s entire patent- and trademark portfolios, and is responsible for managing and securing other intellectual property rights. 

Anticipate a highly independent job where you will surely unfold your decision-making capacity and social skills as you cooperate with colleagues across the entire organization. You will be based at our headquarters in Valby, Denmark.

 

Ensure the protection of inventions & assess value of IPR

Your objective is to secure protection of the right inventions and contribute to ensuring that our IP add value to the organization. You will cooperate with our colleagues in e.g. Research & Development in order to vet inventions, assess appropriate coverage of IP rights and provide input and reports to stakeholders on IP landscapes and other matters relating to IPR. 

You will:

• vet inventions
• draft and prosecute patent applications – both directly before the DKPTO and the EPO and through local agents;
• chair technical meetings with inventors and technical reviewers on the patentability and potential of new inventions, and provide patent data and other reports to stakeholders on FLSmidth's and our competitors' IP;
• spar with stakeholders on appropriate protection and potential value of inventions and patents, and ensure applications and registrations adhere to internal strategies, and;
• monitor and advise on competitors’ IPR activities.
• train employees in IPR issues
• manage disputes relating to infringement of IPR
• advise on non-disclosure agreements, license agreements and other matters relating to IPR.

 

Vast experience in the world of patents and excellent interpersonal skills

Your background is an engineering degree combined with experience from a similar position, where you have acquired vast insight into Patent & Trademark Office procedures and strong patent drafting skills. It is a plus, if you are a European Patent Attorney or in the process of becoming one. Irrespective of your background, you have a trained eye for quality and are highly capable of capturing the essences of inventions and assessing their potential and viability. You are able to stand firm on your conviction, while also having excellent interpersonal and communication skills and being able to work with people from different cultures and backgrounds.

You thrive working independently while you also enjoy being part of a team. You are known as a likeable, meticulous and organized person who take ownership and follow through on your tasks. Fluency in English is an absolute requirement. Some travel activity must be expected (10-15 days annually).
