Do you have a broad technical background and an interest in becoming knowledgeable within the field of offshore wind technologies? Are you an experienced Patent Attorney looking for new career opportunities?

You will join our Intellectual Property team within the Legal & Risk department at our headquarters in Aarhus, DK, and be part of our team working with developing and maintaining the IP portfolio and framework for increasing business focus on using IP as a business tool. 

Tasks & responsibilities: 

As our new Patent Attorney, your main responsibilities will be to facilitate the evaluation and enhancement of inventions, preparation/coordination of patent applications and the communication with relevant patent authorities. You will instruct and manage external counsels, patent consultants and attorneys, and you will work with various internal and external stakeholders on patent-related issues. 

You will also be responsible for: 

• Facilitating freedom-to-operate analysis, risk assessments, surveillance and mitigation of third-party rights and supporting evaluations
• Assisting in developing and maintaining IP relevant guidelines and procedures to support the business goals
• Participating in driving the continuous development and implementation of our IP strategy
• Providing patent-related training and advice, both in general and in relation to specific technology and development projects
• Patent landscape analysis relating to third party rights
• Advising in relation to patent proceedings

Skills & experience: 

Our new colleague holds an engineering degree or similar technical degree and has strong technical skills and a drive for understanding technologies within all aspects of offshore wind. Apart from the technical skills, it is important that you are a qualified Patent Attorney at one or more patent authorities and with at least 3 years of relevant experience from an in-house position or private practice. 

We expect that you: 

• Have IP knowledge beyond patents
• Understand IP as a business asset and the foundation for strategic opportunities and you can apply this in a business setting
• Have a good understanding of IP risks and opportunities in the context of collaboration with external parties
• Approach your tasks in a systematic and flexible way and can handle various tasks simultaneously 
• You like to be challenged by complex questions, and you have a commercial approach to solving problems
• Are result-oriented and persistent
• Can actively collect information and analyse complex issues of a technical and IP nature and communicate clear and straight-forward advice on this basis to both management, people with a non-technical background and technical specialists 
• Can prioritise your tasks so you can deliver high-quality results on time
• Have great interpersonal skills enabling you to build strong relationships with colleagues across the organisation with different professional and cultural backgrounds
• Have excellent English skills
