Our rare disease team is expanding, and we are currently looking for a colleague to join our highly committed Rare Disease Patient Engagement team. Are you ready to step in and step up? If 'Yes' then you might be the one we’re looking for.

LEO Pharma has set the ambitious goal to become the world’s preferred dermatology care partner and to improve the quality of life for people that are afflicted by severe skin diseases, including rare diseases. To succeed, we invest massively in R&D, as well as have a very strong focus on partnering with all relevant experts, including disease experience exerts (also known as ‘patients’). 
To that end, we are looking for a subject matter expert in health consumer and market research to take on the role as Patient Research Specialist and support the build and acceleration of a new portfolio of innovative molecules that we believe hold a potential to transform the lives of people afflicted with serious rare skin diseases. 
In this role you will be able and expected to apply your full range of skills and experience in planning, conducting and reporting qualitative and quantitative research that has disease experience experts (and their needs) at the centre:
As our new Patient Research Specialist your mission will be to drive deep disease understanding and patient advisory in and beyond R&D through qualitative and quantitative research, in order to support strategic decision-making, as well as facilitate R&D operations and commercialisation. With reference to the mentioned, your role will be to act as a partner to senior leaders and teams across the value-chain, starting at the level of early research.

Your primary responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Patient Officer (CPO) of Rare Diseases/Head Patient Engagement, you will be accountable for purposefully applying your skills, experience and your ability to partner with leaders and members of the global rare disease patient community in support of LEO Pharma’s 2025 vision, as well as in accordance with the LEO Rare Disease credo ‘Nothing About You Without You’. In specifically, your primary responsibilities will be as follows:

• Drive the planning, execution and reporting of qualitative and quantitative patient research activities in support of the Rare Disease Unit and related R&D pipeline and asset portfolio.
• Through the mentioned, support asset/project owners across the R&D and Commercial value chain at strategy and operational level.
• You will safeguard and further advance LEO Pharma’s reputation as a trusted and competent partner through your ‘patients first’ and ‘win-win’ mindset, and your research approach that at all times reflect (and set) the highest standards from e.g. a legal and compliance perspective.

Your competencies

You have an academic degree in market research and consumer behavior or other related fields, and experience in applying this in a patient context. To that end, you have minimum 5 years’ experience in leading the design, implementation and reporting of market and consumer research initiatives in the health care sector (private or public), e.g. as part of a consultancy agency or internal business unit. You know how and when to apply a broad variety of qualitative and quantitative methodologies - taking a ‘designed-for-purpose’/individual approach to each research project. You have a proven track record of successfully leading, delivering and measuring the impact of your work according to pre-defined KPIs and objectives.

You have a strong drive, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to earn trust from your surroundings through your customer-centric and analytical approach to problem-solving. This also allows you to envision relevant win-win KPIs and end-points for your research initiatives and to set and deliver on ambitious goals.

You have experience in working in a global organization/with multiple cultures and across multiple time zones and hence you are also fluent in oral and written English (the spoken language in the Rare Disease Unit). Finally, you are an expert in making compelling pitches and PowerPoint presentations.

10-15% travel activity must be anticipated, as part of this position.

 The department and your new team

The Patient Research Specialist, Rare Diseases, is part of the Patient Engagement team which is a team of five highly driven and skilled subject matter experts with complementary and interdependent capabilities, roles and responsibilities within the team, as well as in LEO Pharma. All team members have extensive experience in designing and delivering pioneering win-win initiatives in partnership with internal and external key stakeholders, including opinion leaders and members from the global, regional and national patient communities. 
The Patient Engagement team is an integral part of the Rare Disease Unit (RDU) that reports to the EVP of R&D.  Based at the LEO Pharma Headquarters in Ballerup, Denmark, the Patient Engagement team supports R&D and commercial efforts to build and advance LEO Pharma’s pipeline in the rare disease area, with reference to LEO Pharma’s 2025 vision. To that end, the team works closely with all other members of the RDU (working from two geographical locations in the US as well as Denmark), as well as with business leaders, functions and teams beyond R&D and LEO Pharma.
