DTU Physics invites highly motivated and skilled candidates to apply for a number of vacant PhD positions. The subject of the PhD project must be within one of the main research areas of the department: •Atomic scale materials design •Biophysics and fluids •Experimental surface and nanomaterials physics •Quantum physics and information technology •Fusion and plasma physics •Neutrons and x-rays for materials physics The Department of Physics is focusing on research in physics areas of fundamental interest and with clear application and innovation potentials. We embrace projects that are curiosity driven and projects that are closely related to strategic agendas in society. We have strong cross-disciplinary collaborations within DTU, with leading international universities and facilities, and with private companies. DTU Physics has the main responsibility for the Physics and Nanotechnology educations and for the Introductory Physics course for the majority of DTU’s students. We focus on strengthening the experimental part in all courses, e.g. through hands-on exercises in Nanoteket where we also welcome high school students and other guests. Starting date is flexible, but no later than November 2015. Qualifications Candidates should have a master's degree in Physics or a similar relevant degree with an academic level equivalent to the master's degree in engineering. Approval and Enrolment The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU – in this case in the Physics, Mathematics and Informatics program. Salary and appointment terms The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is 3 years.
