The Microbiome Systems Biology group, at the Department of Systems Biology, Technical University of Denmark focuses on the ecology and dynamics of the human gut microbiome and its interaction with the human host. In particular the role of the microbiome in human diseases has interest. This is pursued by integrating and mining of metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, metabolomics, patient data and more. Finally, method development for microbiome analysis also has focus. Responsibilities and tasks The PhD student will research the connection between the human microbiome and markers for osteoporosis. The analysis will involve use and development of advanced bioinformatics tools for processing NGS, taxonomical and patient data. The student is expected to have a strong background in both informatics and biology. Qualifications Candidates should have a master's degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master's degree in engineering. Approval and Enrolment The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU.
