A PhD position is available for the synthesis and development of polymeric nanomedicines for cardiovascular disease. This multidisciplinary project aims to synthesize polymeric building blocks which can self-assemble into nanoparticles with capabilities of targeted drug delivery to atherosclerotic plaques. Responsibilities and tasks The PhD project will be available at the Center for Nanomedicine and Theranostics within the DTU Nanotech Department. We are looking for highly motivated individuals with a strong interest in nanostructures for medicines. The focus of this position is to use synthetic chemistry to create disease specific responsive building blocks that can self-assemble into nanostructures which incorporate nature inspired biomacromolecules that can target specific pathways in atherosclerosis leading to therapeutic changes within the atherosclerotic plaque environment. Qualifications The ideal candidate should hold a Master level degree in synthetic chemistry, polymer chemistry or a related field. The applicant should have a strong academic record, be fluent in English, with excellent communication skills, and interested in working within a collaborative and cross-disciplinary environment. They should strive towards developing scientific skills at the highest level, be ambitious and hard working. Approval and Enrolment The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU.
