A PhD scholarship is available at the Department of Physics, Technical University of Denmark (DTU) as part of a NordicFiveTech-collaboration with NTNU Trondheim and KTH Stockholm entitled "Microscale acoustofluidics for biotechnology". The overall goal is to take microscale acoustofluidics to the next level within biotechnical applications. The PhD scholarship will be hosted in the Theoretical Microfluidics Group (TMF) headed by prof. Henrik Bruus, and it involves collaboration with the NTNU Microfluidics Group headed by prof. Bjørn T. Stokke and the KTH Ultrasonics Group headed by prof. Martin Wiklund. In TMF we conduct widely recognized research within theoretical microfluidics in general, and acoustofluidics in particular. The PhD scholarship aims at strengthening the theoretical research within acoustofludics in the collaboration. Responsibilities and tasks The successful candidate will be a part of a team dedicated to the design and development of acoustofluidic devices for biotechnology. The particular tasks involve -Theoretical modeling of acoustofludic devices -Numerical simulations in Comsol of acoustofludic devices -LabView programming of experimental control software for the collaborating teams -Assisting with data analysis provided by the collaborating teams A limited amount of supervision of student projects and tutoring will also be expected. Qualifications Candidates should have a master's degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master's degree in engineering. Approval and Enrolment The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU. Assessment The assessment of the applicants will be made by prof. Henrik Bruus, and special attention will be given to the candidates proven track record within theoretical microfluidics, Comsol simulation of acoustofluidic devices, and LabView programming.
