Microsoft Philanthropies is deeply committed to making the world better for everyone, based upon the core premise that technology is an equalizing force in the world. As such, we are looking for a seasoned Corporate Social Responsibility/Corporate Philanthropy professional who will be charged with managing the local enablement and implementation of Microsoft Philanthropies in Western Europe, will report to the Europe Regional Director of Microsoft Philanthropies, and will oversee the community of professionals that execute the programmatic work for Microsoft Philanthropies initiatives in the Western Europe area, which includes the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to strategy and planning, project management, stakeholder management and representing Microsoft for the priorities described below.

 

Drive excellence in execution of programmatic priorities in the area:

• Ensure the Microsoft Philanthropies investments in Western Europe contribute to closing the skills gap and enhancing employability in the area through the Digital Skills, Career Pathways and Employee Engagement
• Support the Technology for Social Impact (TSI) team’s goals in the region to help create sustained societal impact by driving tech enablement of strategic partners, by landing the AI for Humanitarian Action program, and ensuring resources are aligned to support humanitarian/disaster response efforts.
• Ensure the Philanthropies country leads in Western Europe support the Technology and Corporate Responsibility (TCR) team’s goals in the region by facilitating execution of the AI for Earth and AI for Accessibility programs

Help improve regional awareness and perception of Microsoft’s societal impact:

• Partner with the Corporate Communications and Central Marketing teams to help achieve Philanthropies programmatic goals by driving breadth regional campaigns, as well as to support Microsoft’s broader reputation objectives.
• Help develop, manage, monitor and optimize breadth campaigns to help advance computer science education for all young people and to foster employability among adult job seekers.
• Contribute to develop the appropriate content and readiness to ensure Philanthropies field and business leaders have the information and tools needed to be effective ambassadors of the all-up Microsoft CSR narrative.
• Represent Microsoft as spokesperson and subject matter expert in the CSR and corporate philanthropy fields.

 

Contribute to drive business impact and help advance the company’s policy agenda:

• Build strategic partnerships through Philanthropies programs that may support Microsoft’s broader strategy.
• Help drive policy priorities through advocacy of topics related to the Microsoft Philanthropies portfolio by collaborating and driving continuous alignment with the government affairs team.

 

Help build and grow an effective, diverse and inclusive Global Philanthropies Community in Western Europe:

• Drive a regular cadence of engagements with all Western Europe markets to ensure awareness and understanding of Philanthropic priorities at the country level.
• Ensure all Western Europe Philanthropies country leads have the proper training and readiness to be successful in their roles.
• Foster collaboration and integration of work with other teams/stakeholders to help advance the Microsoft Philanthropies mission among the Western Europe community.

• Development of relationships with global subsidiary peers to leverage best practices and activities as appropriate from other subs, as well as drive global integration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in program management preferably in a CSR/corporate or government affairs setting or philanthropy/nonprofit leadership type of role.
• Fluent in English and at least one other language spoken in Western Europe.
• Soft skills: Open-mindset, ability to learn, grit and resilience, able to deal with ambiguity, self-driver with proven skill to influence for impact.
• Experience in collaborating with multiple stakeholders across different levels of the organization.
• Diplomatic acumen and business agility.
• Strong project management skills and prior experience developing and managing plans and campaigns from planning through to execution of tactics.
• Ability to track, understand and analyze results, turning reporting into insights that can be shared with the broader business.
• Budget management experience.
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a matrix organization, embrace ambiguity while consistently driving results across external and internal stakeholders via collaboration.
• Spokesperson and public speaking skills; communications and marketing experience desired.
• Disposition to learn from others and sharing of best practices across countries or regions.
• Comfortable with tight deadlines and prioritization in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to manage pluri-cultural environments and demonstrate cultural sensitivity and commitment to diversity.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of regional specificities, challenges and socio-political context.
• Ability to travel frequently throughout the continent.
