Are you an experienced pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) modelling scientist with pharma experience? Then come and join the Discovery & Development PKPD department at Novo Nordisk.

 

About the department
In the Discovery & Development PKPD department, you will have 15 dedicated and highly motivated colleagues supporting projects from early discovery to submission. The department is organizationally a part of our Global Drug Discovery area.

In our daily work, the department has close collaboration with all therapeutic areas (Diabetes, Obesity, CV & Liver disease Research areas) and project teams with scientists spanning across various areas as well as external collaborators and CROs.

Discovery & Development PKPD supports projects with PK and PKPD evaluation and modelling starting from early discovery, to first in human studies and throughout the non-clinical development and hence, our evaluation is essential to aid project progress. The focus is to support and integrate the pharmacology, biology and ADME understanding in animals to predict human PK and set dose for First in Human (FIH). In the non-clinical development, the department is responsible for reporting toxicokinetic to GLP as well as to give input to regulatory documents (e.g. IND, IMPD, NDA).

During clinical development, the department conducts the PK evaluation (to GCP) in early phase 1 trials (e.g. single and multiple ascending dose), collaborates with Clinical Pharmacologists to support later Clinical Pharmacology studies (e.g. DDI, renal and hepatic impairment), and addresses DMPK related questions and issues as they may arise.

 

The position
As a PKPD Specialist, you will be involved in a great variety of tasks related to PK and PKPD assessment and modelling. You will be supporting one or more projects and work in different interdisciplinary projects teams dependent on the actual project phase.

Key to your work is your PKPD modelling competencies supplied with an eager to apply your diverse analytical skillset to secure efficient project progression. You are expected to support one or more projects as well as supporting colleagues in the department with your special competencies and more general PK competences in case of resource bottlenecks.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. within Life, Health or Medical sciences or equivalent pharmaceutical industry experience
• 3-5 years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience
• Strong understanding of PKPD and DMPK principles with experience in supporting drug discovery and development
• Solid experience and understanding of pharmacokinetics and modelling software (i.e. Phoenix Winnonlin or equivalent) is a must
• Proficiency with additional software (NONMEM, Monolix, PK-Sim, R or SAS) is preferred
• Excellent oral and written English language communication skills, as business is conducted using UK English
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
