Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant post doc position at the Department of Management, Society and Communication (MSC). The post doc is part of a collaborative research project ‘Advancing Creative Industries for Development in Ghana’ funded by a research grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

MSC brings together scholars from a range of research areas within management, communication and the broader social sciences and humanities, studying organisations in global environments and the interaction and interdependencies of business, society and government.

The aim of the research project ‘Advancing Creative Industries in Ghana’ is to examine the impact of creative and cultural policy, and the lived and situated dynamics of creative work and creative entrepreneurship in Ghana. Focusing on the music, film, fashion design and visual arts industries, an interdisciplinary team of researchers from Copenhagen Business School, Loughborough University and University of Ghana will work closely with private sector businesses and policy stakeholders to co-produce original knowledge on creative and cultural industries in an African context. The project will use a range of qualitative methods, including interviews, focus group discussions, visual methods and arts-based methods.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will support the various aspects of the project under the guidance of the Project Coordinator Associate Professor Thilde Langevang and in collaboration with the Project Co-Investigator Associate Professor Ana Alacovska. The post doc position entails spending extended research time in Ghana for the purpose of primary data collection and close liaison with a wide range of local stakeholders including our local university partners. The specific tasks of the post doc are:

• Undertake literature review on the key themes
• Conduct qualitative field research, including interviewing creative workers, entrepreneurs and stakeholders in three regions of Ghana (Greater Accra Region, Ashanti Region and Northern Region)
• Organize and analyze data
• Co-author papers suitable for publications in high quality academic journals
• Contribute to the dissemination of the research, including developing and managing online materials and social media
• Arrange events and meetings relating to the project in Ghana and Denmark

The post doc is a non-tenured research position for a 2-year period, starting September 2019 or soon thereafter by mutual agreement.

Qualifications
The candidate must hold a PhD in Anthropology, Entrepreneurship, Geography, Development Studies, Cultural or Media Studies or another Social Sciences or Humanities discipline of relevance to the project. Research experience in developing countries is an advantage.

Recruitment procedure
The Recruitment Committee will shortlist minimum two applicants; when possible five or more applicants will be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee. All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline.

The applicants selected for assessment will be notified about the composition of the Assessment Committee and later in the process about the result of the assessment.

Once the recruitment process is completed each applicant will be notified of the outcome of their application.
