Post Doc Position within Natural Product Processing

A post Doc position is available in the department of chemical engineering and biotechnology at the Faculty of Engineering as of April for a period of 29 month.

The position is financed by GUDP in a project enabstractJV_titled PROBIOFA.

Project abstractJV_description
In a now completed project: COLARO, an energy efficient high-tech method has been developed for the extraction, purification, concentration and separation of natural color pigments based on residues from berry juice production. The project for which the applicant will be engaged exploits the knowledge gained through the COLARO project and expand the process to include any raw material of vegetable origin, i.e.: Sweet potatoes, black carrots and carrots by developing a general production plant with a very high process yield that extracts color pigments. The technology is based on an enzyme-Membrane Bioreactor that is developed in laboratory scale and in a process model in SuperPro Designer, enabling economic process optimization forecasts. In the project the applicant shall further develop and optimize the unit operations enabling a design of a full scale operative plant for the entire process from raw material to the finished natural colour product including an economical evaluation of the process for comparison with traditional methods.

The successful applicant will be included in the team already established for the execution of the PROBIOFA project.

Requirements for the position
The post Doc position may be sought by Ph.D. doctorands with a prior knowledge of membrane technology, basic chemical unit operations and knowledge of enzyme kinetics and relevant knowledge of enzymes used for hydrolysis of plant tissue for the release of cell components like polyphenols. Further an applicant with knowledge of the model programs SuperPro Designer and Aspen + will be preferred.

Applications will be assessed by an expert. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the Faculty.

Shortlisting may be used. Shortlisted applicants will be assessed by an assessment panel.
 
An interview might be part of the assessment process.

Conditions of employment
Employment as a postdoc is temporary. The employment will cease without further notice at the end of the period.

Employment is governed by the Protocol on PhD Research Fellows signed by the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

Research will be predominant in the position. Teaching assignments can be agreed individually. Furthermore, other types of assignments may occur to a limited degree.

The Faculty determines the distribution of the various assignments. The weighting of the different assignments may vary over time.
