We are looking for a post-doc to establish a high-throughput (HTP) in vitro translation/transcription (IVTT) platform for automated protein engineering. If you find these tasks exciting and challenging, you may be our new colleague. 

About the department

Recombinant Diversity Technologies (RDT) is part of Recombinant Technologies and has automated HTP molecular biology and protein production as core tasks. The primary responsibility of RDT is to ensure timely support to the research projects with a broad range of HTP molecular biology technologies for protein variant generation, cloning of antibodies and small scale expression and purification of proteins in general.

 

The job

Your primary focus will be on establishment of an IVTT-platform. Initially, you will work on development and optimization of a cultivate for IVTT. You will continuously benchmark the platform using medically relevant compounds followed by automation of the processes. For this you will be applying our Biomek and Tecan workstations.  Additionally, you will work on adding new features such as unnatural amino acids and isotope labelling into the platform.

Qualifications

The preferred candidate is an excellent scientist with a PhD within a relevant scientific field (biology, biochemistry, engineering or similar). You have an exceptional track record within IVTT systems and experience with setting up IVTT in a HTP setting. Preferably you have experience with development of automated processes, programs and procedures applying liquid handlers. You have in-depth knowledge of heterologous protein expression. 

You are able to cover all aspects of the experimental work from planning and design of experiments over practical execution of the experiments to documentation and presentation of the results to colleagues across the organization. It will be beneficial if you understand the intellectual property, quality and practical requirements involved in the development of recombinant proteins for human therapeutic use.

Efficient communication, collaboration and knowledge sharing are some of your important qualities as well as being flexible and capable of adapting in an often changing research environment. 

Solid English capabilities are required for writing documentation and for communication with colleagues in a multinational corporation.
