Postdoc in Drug Loading of Microcontainers for Oral Drug Delivery

DTU Nanotech conducts cross-disciplinary research where micro- and nanotechnology is applied to a wide range of scientific disciplines as well as applications. The Nanoprobes group is a large and highly multi-cultural group, with different research branches focusing on biosensing, drug delivery and environmental monitoring. Responsibilities and tasks The Nanoprobes group at DTU Nanotech wishes to employ a postdoctoral researcher for 3 years to work in a highly interdisciplinary project focusing on implementing new methods of loading drugs into micrometer sized polymer containers for oral drug delivery. The main goal is to develop novel methods and devices for oral drug delivery of proteins and poorly soluble drugs. The work will be carried out in close collaboration with different research groups and, within the framework of the recently granted Center of Excellence - IDUN. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the drug loading activities in the Nanoprobes group, interacting with several members working in different disciplines, such as biochemistry, biology, microfluidics, pharmacology and polymer science. The job involves co-supervision of Ph.D. and master students. Required qualifications The ideal candidate holds a PhD in chemical or pharmaceutical engineering. A strong background in polymer physics, pharmaceutical technology, and analytical instrumentation is an advantage. Experience in designing and testing of microcontainers/capsules for oral drug delivery, experience in working with pharmaceutical active compounds and polymers and analytical technologies for drug characterization are also considered valuable assets. Furthermore a strong interest in in vivo testing and micro-fabrication is required. We are looking for an independent researcher who works accurately and feels comfortable in a collaborative environment.
