The Energy Economics and Regulation group at DTU Management Engineering offers a position as Postdoc in the area of energy policy, regulatory frameworks, and energy economics of integration of renewable energy. Research focuses on how to design energy markets and create regulatory and technology pathways to future renewable based energy systems, addresses national and international issues and covers the level of society as well as consumers and businesses. The Energy Economics and Regulation group is part of the Systems Analysis Division which is placed within the Department of Management Engineering at DTU. The division conducts basic and applied research within the area of energy system analysis, policy instruments, regulatory issues, energy demand, geography, economics, and climate science. Responsibilities and tasks The Postdoc shall mainly work with analyses of regulation and energy policies of renewable energy integration - especially off-shore wind in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. Tasks includes •Analyse impact of regulations, policies and market designs on off-shore wind power deployment and operation as well as on grid development •Develop coherent regulatory frameworks and market designs that facilitate energy market couplings and system integration of renewable energy. •Consider energy economically feasible policy and regulatory frameworks for pathways towards energy systems with very high shares of variable renewable energy, e.g. wind energy •Perform feasibility studies of different renewable energy technologies, e.g. offshore wind farms for specific cases / scenarios. This includes investment analysis, calculation of levelized cost of energy (LCOE), and project evaluation. The Postdoc shall employ macro and micro economic theory, regulatory economics and policy analysis. The Postdoc is also expected to conduct teaching and participate in research-based public sector services and in general meetings in the Department about research and strategic issues as well as participate in collaboration with other research groups/departments at DTU. Qualifications We are seeking candidates with a PhD degree in economics, science or engineering with experiences within regulation, market design, and energy. In addition to the above, the following further qualifications will be considered in the assessment: •Strong background and interest in sustainable energy and energy systems •Experience within energy policy analysis from an economic perspective •A longer-term interest in pursuing a research career •Excellent writing and communication skills •Team player - the research is conducted in multidisciplinary teams. •Experiences with energy system modelling, e.g. the Balmorel model, is preferred. •Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and international environment as well as in a Danish context •Proficiency in Danish (or Swedish, Norwegian) language is an advantage The Postdoc will be selected through a competitive application process.
